7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

To clean the multimeter, wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the device is powered off and disconnected from any circuits before cleaning.

7.2. Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in the 'Battery Installation' section (4.1). Always use new AAA batteries of the correct type.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No display/Power issues: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Incorrect readings: Ensure the correct measurement function is selected and test leads are properly connected. Verify that the component being tested is isolated from power if required.
  • No continuity beep: Check if the circuit is open or if the test leads are faulty.
  • NCV not detecting: Ensure the NCV probe is close enough to the AC voltage source.

9. User Tips

  • For capacitance measurements, especially with the FY106B model, ensure the capacitor is fully discharged before connecting the multimeter to avoid damage and ensure accurate readings. The FY106B is capable of measuring up to 40000μF.
  • Utilize the 'HOLD' function when taking measurements in hard-to-reach areas to easily record the reading after removing the probes.
  • The automatic mode is excellent for general checks, but for precise or specific tests, manually select the desired function.
