5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Power On/Off
- Power On: Press the power button (3) for about 2 seconds to boot the device.
- Auto Power Off: After about 15 minutes of no operation, the instrument will automatically shut down to save battery. To disable auto power off, hold down the Light/Backlight key (6) and then turn on the instrument.
5.2. Smart Measurement Mode
This measurement mode is the default on boot. In this mode, DC voltage, resistance, and continuity (on-off) can be measured, and the measuring signal is automatically recognized by the instrument.
- Press the power button to turn on the instrument. The instrument will display "---" and enter the intelligent measurement mode.
- The meter will automatically recognize the current measured signal by touching the positive probe (1) to the power supply or the resistance (parallel), and connecting the negative clamp (7) to ground.
- Read the measurement results from the display screen (4).
Note:
- The minimum discernible voltage in this mode is 0.8 V.
- When measuring resistance, if Resistance < 50Ω, the buzzer will sound.
- When the measuring circuit is on or off, the reading may be affected by other channels between the meter and pen.
5.3. Data Hold
After booting, when data is measured, press the HOLD key (5) for 1 second to lock the data on the display. Press it again to release the lock.
5.4. Flashlight
Press the Light/Backlight key (6) for 2 seconds to turn the flashlight (2) on or off.
5.5. Backlight
Press the Light/Backlight key (6) for 1 second to turn the LCD backlight on or off.
6. Measurement Capabilities
The GVDA GD181 is capable of performing the following measurements:
6.1. DC Voltage Measurement
The device can detect DC voltage in the range of 0.8V to 100V. It is particularly useful for automotive applications.
⚠ Warning: Do not measure voltage above 110V, as this may damage the instrument.
6.2. Resistance Measurement
The instrument can measure resistance. In Smart Measurement Mode, if the resistance is less than 50Ω, a buzzer will sound, indicating continuity.
6.3. Continuity Testing (On-off detection)
Useful for finding breakpoints in wires. If the wire resistance is below 50Ω, the buzzer will prompt, indicating a continuous circuit.
