4. Setup and First Use
4.1 Initial Cleaning
Before first use, it is recommended to flush the pen with clean, cool water to remove any manufacturing residues. This helps ensure optimal ink flow.
- Disassemble the pen by unscrewing the nib unit from the barrel.
- Rinse the nib unit and feed under cool running water.
- Fill the barrel with clean water using the vacuum filling mechanism (see Section 5.1) and expel the water several times until it runs clear.
- Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling.
4.2 Nib Installation (if applicable)
Your Asvine V200 pen comes with the nib pre-installed. If you ever need to replace or re-seat the nib and feed, ensure they are aligned correctly before gently pushing them back into the section. Do not force them.
5. Operation: Vacuum Filling System
The Asvine V200 features a high-capacity vacuum filling system. Use only non-carbon bottled fountain pen ink with this pen.

5.1 Filling the Pen with Ink
- Ensure the pen is clean and dry.
- Unscrew the blind cap at the end of the barrel a few turns until the vacuum rod is released and can be pulled up.
- Immerse the entire nib and the front end of the grip section fully into your bottled ink.
- Pull the vacuum rod all the way up to create a vacuum.
- Push the vacuum rod down quickly and firmly. This will create a vacuum that draws ink into the barrel.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 several times to achieve a fuller fill (the pen can hold 40-50% of its capacity with a single fill, but multiple pumps can increase this).
- Once filled, remove the nib from the ink bottle and gently wipe any excess ink from the nib and section with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Screw the blind cap back down completely to seal the ink chamber.
Important Note for Writing:
When you are ready to write, unscrew the blind cap a few turns (approximately 1-2 full rotations) to allow ink to flow from the barrel to the nib. When you are finished writing, screw the blind cap back down completely to prevent accidental ink flow or leaks during storage or transport.
6. Maintenance and Care
6.1 Regular Cleaning
Regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and to prevent ink clogs, especially when changing ink colors or if the pen has been unused for a period.
- Empty any remaining ink from the pen by expelling it back into the ink bottle or a waste container.
- Fill the pen with clean, cool water using the vacuum filling method (Section 5.1).
- Expel the water. Repeat this process until the water runs clear.
- For a deeper clean, you can disassemble the nib unit and rinse it separately. Use the provided wrench if needed to carefully remove the nib unit.
- Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling or refilling with ink.
6.2 Storage
Store your fountain pen capped and upright or horizontally when not in use. Avoid storing it nib-down for extended periods, as this can lead to ink pooling in the cap. Keep the pen away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
6.3 Nib Care
Handle the nib with care. Avoid dropping the pen or applying excessive pressure while writing, as this can damage the nib tines. If the nib becomes misaligned, it may require professional adjustment.

8. User Tips
- Nib Compatibility: The Asvine V200 is known to be compatible with Bock nib units. If you wish to experiment with different writing experiences, a Bock steel nib unit can be fitted.
- Enhanced Sealing: For extra security against leaks, some users apply a small amount of silicone grease to the threads of the vacuum filling mechanism or the O-rings. Ensure it is fountain pen safe silicone grease.
- Left-Handed Writers: While specific left-handed nibs are not listed, many users find the standard EF, F, and M nibs suitable. Experiment with different nib sizes to find what works best for your writing style.
