3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The SGS05 water flow meter requires one CR2032 3V battery (not included).

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the side of the device.
  2. Gently pry open the cover.
  3. Insert one CR2032 3V battery, ensuring the positive (+) side faces upwards.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  5. The device should power on and display information.

3.2 Installation to Faucet/Hose

The SGS05 is designed for easy connection to standard 3/4" threaded faucets and hoses.

  1. Ensure your faucet is turned off.
  2. Screw the 3/4" Faucet Connector of the SGS05 onto your outdoor faucet until hand-tight.
  3. Attach your garden hose or nozzle to the 3/4" Outlet of the SGS05, screwing it on until hand-tight.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.

4. Operating Modes

The SGS05 features four distinct measurement modes, easily switchable with a single button press.

4.1 Single Mode

Measures the water consumption for a single watering session or pass. The display will show the volume of water used since the last reset or start of flow.

4.2 Flow Mode

Measures the real-time water flow speed. When water flows through the meter, the LCD will activate and show the current flow speed in GAL/Min or L/Min.

4.3 AVG Mode

Displays the daily average water consumption over the last 7 days. This mode helps you track your weekly water usage trends.

4.4 Total Mode

Displays the total accumulated water consumption. This mode tracks overall water usage up to a maximum of 99999L / 999999GAL.

4.5 Unit Conversion

The device supports unit conversion between Liters (L) and Gallons (GAL). To switch units, press and hold the button for a few seconds until the unit changes on the display.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Replacement

When the low battery alert appears on the display, it's time to replace the CR2032 3V battery. Follow the steps in Section 3.1 for battery installation.

5.2 Cleaning the Water Inlet Filter

The SGS05 includes a water inlet filter to prevent debris from entering the device. Over time, this filter may accumulate sand and stones, potentially affecting accuracy or flow. Regularly inspect and clean the filter as needed.

  1. Disconnect the water flow meter from the faucet.
  2. Unscrew the inlet connector.
  3. Carefully remove the filter mesh.
  4. Rinse the filter under running water to remove any debris.
  5. Reinsert the clean filter and reattach the connector securely.

5.3 Waterproofing

The SGS05 has an IPX5 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. While suitable for outdoor sun and rain, avoid submerging the device in water or exposing it to high-pressure water streams.

  • No Display / Blank Screen:
    • Check if the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace the CR2032 battery if necessary.
    • Ensure the device is not in sleep mode (it should activate with water flow).
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Check the water inlet filter for clogging and clean it if needed (refer to Section 5.2).
    • Ensure the connections are tight and there are no leaks, which could affect flow measurement.

  • Leaks at Connections:
