4. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your HIMOJO Smart Tag with your Apple device:

  1. Activate the Smart Tag: Upon first use, gently pull out the battery insulation strip from the side of the Smart Tag. You may hear a short beep indicating it's powered on.
  2. Open Find My App: On your iPhone or iPad, open the pre-installed "Find My" application.
  3. Add New Item: Navigate to the "Items" tab at the bottom of the screen. Tap the "+" icon, then select "Add Other Item" or "Other Supported Item".
  4. Search for Item: Your device will begin searching for nearby compatible items. Ensure your Smart Tag is close to your iPhone/iPad.
  5. Connect: Once "Locasync" (or a similar name) appears on your screen, tap "Connect".
  6. Name Your Item: Enter a name for your Smart Tag (e.g., "Keys," "Wallet," "Bike") and choose an emoji to represent it. Tap "Continue."
  7. Confirm Linking: Review the information and confirm that the item will be linked to your Apple ID. Tap "Continue" or "Agree."
  8. Finish Setup: Tap "Finish" to complete the pairing process. Your Smart Tag is now ready to use.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Basic Functions

  • Power On: Press the button on the Smart Tag once.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the button for 5 seconds.
  • Reset: Press the button 4 times quickly within 3 seconds, then long press the 5th time until you hear a beep. This will reset the device.

5.2. Finding Your Items

5.2.1. Finding Nearby Items (Within Bluetooth Range)

If your item is within Bluetooth range (up to 250ft/75m), you can make the Smart Tag play a sound:

  1. Open the "Find My" app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to the "Items" tab and select your Smart Tag.
  3. Tap the "Play Sound" button. The Smart Tag will emit a loud sound (>75db within 10cm) to help you locate it.

5.2.2. Finding Far Away Items (Out of Bluetooth Range)

If your item is out of Bluetooth range, the Apple Find My network can help:

  1. Open the "Find My" app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to the "Items" tab and select your Smart Tag.
  3. The app will display the last known location of your item on a map.
  4. You can get directions to the item's vicinity directly from the app.

5.2.3. Left Behind Reminder

Receive an alert on your iPhone if you accidentally leave your Smart Tag behind:

  1. In the "Find My" app, select your Smart Tag.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Battery Replacement

The HIMOJO Smart Tag uses a 3.0V CR2032-230mAh coin cell battery, which typically lasts over a year. When the battery is low, you will receive a notification on your iPhone. To replace the battery:

  1. Locate the small groove or opening on the side of the Smart Tag.
  2. Use a small, flat tool (like a coin or a small screwdriver) to gently pry open the casing.
  3. Remove the old CR2032 battery.
  4. Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  5. Carefully close the casing until it clicks securely into place.

6.2. Cleaning and Storage

  • Wipe the Smart Tag with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or smudges.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Store the device within the recommended temperature range of -10°C to +50°C and humidity below 95% (non-condensing) to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

7. User Tips

  • Optimal Compatibility: Ensure your iOS device is running iOS 14.5 or above for full compatibility and access to all Find My features.
  • Range Awareness: The wireless range is over 40 meters in open areas. Keep this in mind when trying to locate items.
  • Battery Life: The replaceable CR2032 battery lasts over a year, but actual duration may vary based on usage. Keep a spare battery handy.
  • Clear Path for Sound: For the loudest sound when finding nearby items, ensure the Smart Tag is not heavily muffled or obstructed.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device not turning on: Ensure the battery insulation strip has been completely removed. Check if the CR2032 battery is correctly inserted and has sufficient charge.
  • Cannot pair with iPhone:
    • Verify your iPhone is running iOS 14.5 or above.
    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone.
    • Try resetting the Smart Tag: Press the button 4 times quickly within 3 seconds, then long press the 5th time until a beep is heard.
    • Make sure the Smart Tag is within close proximity to your iPhone during the pairing process.
  • No sound when playing sound: Confirm the Smart Tag is within Bluetooth range of your iPhone. Check your iPhone's volume settings to ensure it's not muted.
  • Location not updating: The Smart Tag relies on the Apple Find My network. Ensure it is within range of an active Apple device. Also, check your iPhone's internet connection.
  • Removing an item from your Apple ID: If you need to re-pair the Smart Tag with a different Apple ID or transfer ownership, you must first remove it from your current Apple ID in the Find My app. This will allow the tag to be activated and used by another person.
