Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent electric shock, damage to the device, or injury to personnel:

  • Power Supply: Ensure the input power supply is DC 24V and stable. Incorrect voltage can damage the unit.
  • Qualified Personnel: Installation, wiring, and maintenance should only be performed by qualified personnel.
  • Grounding: Properly ground the device to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Environment: Operate the device within specified environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The unit has an IP65 waterproof rating, but avoid direct exposure to excessive moisture or harsh chemicals.
  • No User Serviceable Parts: The device contains no user-serviceable parts inside. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Wiring: Double-check all wiring connections before applying power to prevent short circuits or damage.

5. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your HMI PLC Combo:

  1. Mounting:

Prepare a cutout of 120mm x 94mm in your control panel. Insert the HMI PLC Combo into the cutout and secure it using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure a snug fit to maintain the IP65 rating.

  2. Power Connection:

Connect a stable DC 24V power supply to the designated power terminals (FG, 0V, DC24V) on the back of the unit. Refer to the wiring diagram for correct polarity.

  3. I/O Wiring:

Connect your digital inputs (DI) to terminals X0-X11 and digital outputs (DO) to Y0-Y11. The digital inputs are Passive NPN, and outputs are Transistor (Low level NPN) or Relay (Normally open dry contact). For transistor outputs, COM connects to negative. For relay outputs, the max load is 5A; for MOS outputs, the max load is 2A.

If your model includes optional analog I/O, connect them according to your specific configuration. Analog inputs can support various types including Thermocouple, RTD, Voltage, and Current. Analog outputs support Voltage and Current.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your HMI PLC Combo:

  • Cleaning:

Gently clean the HMI screen and exterior casing with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the screen or plastic. Ensure the unit is powered off before cleaning.

  • Environmental Check:

Periodically inspect the installation environment to ensure it remains free from excessive dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures. Verify that ventilation is not obstructed.

  • Wiring Inspection:

Check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or corrosion. Loose connections can lead to intermittent operation or system failures.

  • Software Updates:

Check the Coolmay website periodically for software and firmware updates. Keeping your software up-to-date can provide new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HMI PLC Combo, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Unit Does Not Power On:
    • Verify the DC 24V power supply is connected correctly and providing the specified voltage.
    • Check the power cable for damage.
    • Ensure the power terminals are securely connected.
  • HMI Screen is Unresponsive:
    • Perform a soft reset by cycling the power.
    • Ensure the screen is clean and free from debris that might interfere with touch detection.
    • If the issue persists, the HMI software might need to be reloaded.
  • PLC Not Responding to Inputs/Outputs:
    • Check the wiring for all affected I/O points as per the wiring diagrams (Figures 5.2, 5.3).
    • Verify the PLC program logic is correct and has been successfully uploaded to the device.
    • Ensure the input signals are within the specified voltage/current ranges.
  • Communication Errors:
    • Check the physical connection of the communication cables (Type-C, RS232, RS485).
    • Verify communication settings (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits) in both the HMI/PLC software and the connected device.
    • Ensure the correct communication port is selected in your programming software.
  • Software Connection Issues:
    • Ensure the correct drivers for the programming cables are installed on your computer.
    • Close any other applications that might be using the communication port.
    • Try a different USB port on your computer.
