1. Introduction

The FIREBAT A8 Mini PC is a high-performance desktop computer designed for multimedia, gaming, and general computing tasks. It features an AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS processor with integrated Radeon 780M graphics, dual-channel DDR5 memory, and fast PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your Mini PC.

2. Package Contents

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Connecting Peripherals

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the DC port on the rear of the Mini PC and then to a power outlet.
  2. Display Connection: Connect your monitor(s) to the HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, or USB4 Type-C ports using appropriate cables. The Mini PC supports up to four displays simultaneously.
  3. Keyboard and Mouse: Connect your USB keyboard and mouse to any available USB 2.0 or USB 3.2 ports.
  4. Network Connection: For a wired connection, connect an Ethernet cable to one of the two RJ45 LAN ports. For wireless, ensure the Wi-Fi antennas are properly connected (if external) or that the internal Wi-Fi is enabled.
  5. Audio Devices: Connect headphones or speakers to the 3.5mm audio jack. A separate 3.5mm mic jack is also available.

3.2 First Boot

After connecting all necessary peripherals, press the power button located on the front panel to turn on the Mini PC. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial operating system setup.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the power button on the front panel.
  • Power Off: Use the operating system's shutdown function. Alternatively, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to force a shutdown (not recommended for regular use).

4.2 Power Consumption Modes

The Mini PC features a top button that allows switching between different power consumption modes to optimize performance or quiet operation:

  • Red (Performance Mode): 65W, for maximum performance.
  • Blue (Balance Mode): 54W, for balanced performance and power efficiency.
  • Green (Quiet Mode): 45W, for reduced noise and lower power consumption.

4.3 Connecting External Devices

  • USB Devices: Utilize the available USB 2.0, USB 3.2, and USB4 Type-C ports for connecting external storage, webcams, printers, and other peripherals.
  • USB4 Type-C Ports: The two multifunctional USB4 Type-C ports support Power Delivery 3.0 (65-120W), data transfer up to 40Gbps, and 4K@60Hz video output.
  • Oculink Port: The native Oculink port supports connecting an external dedicated graphics card for enhanced graphical performance. Important: This interface does not support hot-swapping. Please plug and unplug the Oculink cable only when the PC is turned off.

4.4 Multi-Display Setup

The Mini PC supports a quadruple display setup, allowing for efficient multitasking. Connect up to four monitors using a combination of the HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and two USB4 Type-C ports.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the Mini PC with a soft, dry cloth. Use compressed air to gently clear dust from the ventilation grilles to ensure optimal airflow and cooling performance.

5.2 Software Updates

Keep your operating system and drivers updated to ensure system stability, security, and optimal performance. Refer to your operating system's documentation for update procedures.

5.3 RAM and Storage Upgrades

The Mini PC supports dual-channel DDR5 5600MHz RAM, upgradeable up to 96GB. The PCIe 4.0 SSD can also be upgraded. Consult a qualified technician or refer to detailed upgrade guides to avoid damaging components.

5.4 Cooling System

The Mini PC features an efficient internal cooling system to manage heat generated by the high-performance components. Ensure proper ventilation around the device and avoid blocking air vents.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 No Power

  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the Mini PC and a working power outlet.
  • Verify the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
  • Try a different power outlet if available.

6.2 No Display Output

  • Check that the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source (HDMI, DP, USB-C).
  • Ensure display cables are securely connected to both the Mini PC and the monitor.
  • Try connecting to a different display port on the Mini PC or using a different cable.

6.3 Network Connectivity Issues

  • Wired: Check the Ethernet cable connection to both the Mini PC and the router/modem. Verify router/modem status.
  • Wireless: Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled in the operating system. Check that the Mini PC is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and that the signal strength is adequate. Restart your router/modem.

6.4 System Performance Issues

  • Ensure the Mini PC is operating in the appropriate power consumption mode (e.g., Performance mode for demanding tasks).
  • Check for excessive background applications or processes consuming system resources.
  • Verify that the cooling system is not obstructed and that the device is not overheating.
