5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Keyboard

  • Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the keycaps and keyboard surface.
  • For dust and debris between keycaps, use compressed air or a small brush.
  • Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the keyboard.

5.2 Replacing Keycaps

The Womier K61 PRO comes with PBT pudding keycaps, known for their durability and oil resistance. You can replace keycaps using the included keycap puller.

  1. Gently attach the keycap puller to the keycap you wish to remove.
  2. Pull straight up with even pressure until the keycap detaches from the switch stem.
  3. Align the new keycap with the switch stem and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

5.3 Replacing Switches (Hot-Swappable Feature)

The K61 PRO features hot-swappable Gateron switches, allowing you to change switches without soldering. It supports both 3-pin and 5-pin switches.

  1. Disconnect the keyboard from your computer.
  2. Use a switch puller (not explicitly listed as included, but typically required for this task) to carefully grip the top and bottom clips of the switch.
  3. Gently pull the switch straight up to remove it from the PCB.
  4. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
  5. Press the new switch down firmly until it is fully seated and clicks into place.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not responding:
    • Ensure the USB Type-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer.
    • Try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port on your computer.
    • Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out system-specific issues.
    • If using a USB hub, try connecting directly to the computer.
  • Backlight not working or incorrect:
    • Check FN key combinations for brightness adjustment (FN+; / FN+') and effect changes (FN+CTRL Right / FN+CTRL Left).
    • Ensure the DIY software (if installed) is not overriding settings or has not been misconfigured.
    • Perform a factory reset by holding FN + Backspace for 3 seconds.
  • Specific keys not working:
    • Carefully remove the keycap using the keycap puller.
    • Check if the switch is properly seated. If it's loose, press it down firmly.
    • If the switch is damaged, replace it with a new one (refer to Section 5.3).
    • Clean any debris around the switch.
  • Keyboard frequently disconnects:
    • Ensure the USB Type-C cable is not damaged and is securely connected.
