Offline Clone Function (Model 6626C3-C only)

The offline clone function allows you to duplicate a source drive to a target drive without needing a computer. This is ideal for system backups or drive upgrades.

  1. Prepare Drives: Ensure the docking station is disconnected from your computer and powered off. Insert the source disk (Disk A) into the "Source" slot and the target disk (Disk B) into the "Target" slot.
  2. Connect Power: Connect the power adapter to the docking station and plug it into a power outlet.
  3. Select Clone Mode: Switch the button at the back of the docking station to "Clone" mode.
  4. Start Cloning: Turn the power on. Press the "Start" button at the back of the docking station. The indicator lights will flash, indicating the cloning process has begun. The indicator light will remain constantly on once the clone is finished.

Important Notes for Offline Cloning:

  • The target drive (Disk B) must be equal to or larger in capacity than the source drive (Disk A).
  • Do not move or remove disks during the cloning process.
  • Do not connect the docking station to a computer during offline cloning.
  • The target disk will be formatted when starting the offline clone. Please back up any important data on the target disk before cloning.
  • After cloning, the target disk may need to be activated by connecting it to a computer. Steps: PC Management – Disk Management – Online.
  • The offline clone speed is approximately 500GB per 2 hours.

Auto Sleep Mode

The docking station features an intelligent 10-minute auto sleep mode. If there is no data activity for 10 minutes, the device will automatically enter sleep mode to conserve power, extend the lifespan of your hard drives, and prevent data loss or corruption.

Note:

  • It is generally recommended to keep this function enabled. Disabling auto sleep mode during operation may lead to data loss if the device is unexpectedly disconnected or powered off.
  • To reset the sleep mode or for advanced configurations, please contact customer service.

Maintenance

  • Keep the docking station in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.
  • Use only the provided power adapter and data cables to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Regularly check for firmware updates from the official ORICO website, if available.
  • The open design aids in heat dissipation; ensure the vents are not blocked.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners.

Troubleshooting

Q: Why can't my PC recognize the HDD/SSD?
  • Ensure the hard drive itself is functional by testing it in another device if possible.
  • Try inserting a different HDD/SSD into the docking station to rule out a drive issue.
  • Check all cable connections (USB and power) to ensure they are secure.
  • For new drives, or drives used for cloning, they might need to be initialized or brought online in your computer's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS).
  • If the issue persists, contact customer service.
Q: The transfer speed is not reaching 10Gbps.
  • The advertised 10Gbps is a theoretical maximum. Actual speeds depend on various factors including the hard drive's speed, your computer's USB port (must be USB3.2 Gen2 compatible), the operating system, and the type of files being transferred.
  • Ensure you are using the Type-C to Type-C cable for the fastest possible connection.
  • Verify that your computer's USB port supports USB3.2 Gen2 (10Gbps). Older USB ports (e.g., USB 3.0/3.1 Gen1, USB 2.0) will operate at lower speeds.
Q: Can I disable the auto sleep mode?
A: The 10-minute auto sleep mode is a protective feature. While it might be possible to disable it through advanced settings or firmware, it is generally not recommended as it helps extend the hard drive's lifespan and prevents data loss. If you require specific behavior, please contact ORICO customer service for guidance.
Q: Which brands of SSD/HDD are supported?
A: The docking station supports various brands including Seagate, Toshiba, Western Digital, Samsung, Hitachi, and others that use the SATA interface.

User Tips

  • Data Backup: Always back up critical data from your target drive before performing an offline clone, as the process will format the target drive.
  • Drive Activation: After an offline clone, if your target drive doesn't immediately appear, remember to check Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to ensure it's online and assigned a drive letter.
  • Optimal Speed: For the best transfer speeds, connect the docking station to a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port on your computer using the provided Type-C to Type-C cable.
  • Power Stability: Use the original 12V/3A power adapter to ensure stable power delivery, especially when using high-capacity 3.5-inch HDDs.
  • System Compatibility: The docking station is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. No special drivers are usually needed for basic functionality.
