4. Setup

4.1 Connecting the ESC

Connect the ESC to your motor, receiver, and battery according to your RC model's specific wiring diagram. Ensure all connections are firm and correctly polarized.

4.2 Connecting the LED Program Box to Different ESCs

The method for connecting the LED Program Box varies depending on your ESC type. Refer to the following guidelines:

  1. For ESC with multiplexed throttle and programming cable: Plug the ESC throttle cable into the port marked with " " on your program box.
  2. For ESC without built-in BEC (OPTO version): Plug the ESC throttle cable into the port marked with " " AND connect an extra battery (4.8-8.4V) to the port marked with " " on your program box to power it.
  3. For ESC where the fan port is also the programming port: Plug one end of the programming cable (included in the product box) into the fan port on your ESC, and the other end into the programming port marked with " " on your program box.
  4. For ESC with a separate programming cable (with output voltage of 4.8-8.4V): Plug the programming cable into the port marked with " " on your program box.
  5. For ESC with a separate programming cable (no output voltage): Plug the programming cable into the port marked with " " AND connect an extra battery (4.8-8.4V) to the port marked with " " on your program box.
  6. For ESC with a dedicated separate programming port: Plug one end of the programming cable (included in the product box) into the programming port on your ESC, and the other end into the port marked with " " on your program box.

Note: The extra battery mentioned in points 2 and 5 can be replaced by an UBEC.

4.3 How to Make the LED Program Box Work

After making all necessary connections, connect a battery to your ESC and power it on. The LED Program Box should display the current settings of your ESC within a few seconds. If no information is displayed, check that the programming cable and any external power source (battery/UBEC) are correctly connected and not reversely plugged in. If issues persist, disconnect the battery, wait 2 seconds, then reconnect it to your ESC. The program box may take a few seconds to display information.

5. Programming

5.1 LED Program Card Functions

  • LED Display (Left): Shows the number of the programmable item.
  • LED Display (Right): Shows the parameter value for the selected item.
  • ITEM Button: Selects the programmable item you wish to adjust or check.
  • VALUE Button: Adjusts the parameter value for the currently selected item.
  • OK Button: Confirms and saves all adjusted parameters to the ESC. A red "---" will briefly appear on the right LED display to indicate data transfer.
  • RESET Button: Resets the ESC to its factory default settings.
  • Programming Port: Connects to the ESC.
  • External Power Supply Port: For connecting an external battery or UBEC if needed.

6.2 Reverse Brake

The ESC supports reverse brake and linear brake modes, which can significantly shorten landing distances. Normal and no brake modes are also available, offering flexibility for different flying styles and aircraft types. This feature is a registered patent of HOBBYWING.
