Button Functions

  • Left Button (SET): Used to enter/exit setting mode and confirm selections.
  • Middle Button (UP): Used to increase values or navigate up in menus.
  • Right Button (DOWN): Used to decrease values or navigate down in menus.

Odometer and Trip Counter

The speedometer displays total mileage (odometer) and trip mileage (trip odometer) on the LCD. The total mileage is programmable. The trip odometer can be reset to zero by following the specific steps outlined in the 'Button Operations' section of the detailed manual image.

Calibration (Pulse/km) Programming

The calibration value (pulse/km) is programmable to ensure accuracy for various trucks. The adjustable range is 1000-65535. To program the calibration, follow the steps detailed in the 'Calibration (imp/km) Programmable' section of the manual image.

Overspeed Buzzer Alarm Programming

The overspeed alarm value is programmable. When the vehicle speed exceeds the set value, a loud buzzer alarm will activate. To set the overspeed alarm value, refer to the 'Set Over Speed Buzzer Alarm Value' section in the detailed manual image for programming steps.

Backlight

The speedometer features a backlight for enhanced visibility in various lighting conditions. The backlight is controlled via the dedicated wiring connection (Orange and Blue wires).

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your ELING speedometer, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the speedometer clean and dry.
  • Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning the display and housing. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the surface.
  • Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
  • Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods when not in use.

Troubleshooting

No Power/Display

  • Check the power connections: Ensure the Red wire is connected to a 9-36VDC power source and the Black wire is connected to ground.
  • Verify the supply voltage is within the specified 9-36VDC range.

Incorrect Speed Reading or No Speed Indication

  • Verify the speed sensor connection: Ensure the White wire is correctly connected to the Speed Signal Input.
  • Check and recalibrate the pulse/km setting. Refer to the 'Calibration (Pulse/km) Programming' section for detailed steps. An incorrect calibration value will result in inaccurate speed readings.
  • Ensure the speed sensor itself is functioning correctly.

Odometer Not Functioning

  • Ensure the speed signal input (White wire) is correctly connected and receiving a signal.
  • Check for any error messages on the display.

Overspeed Alarm Not Working

  • Check the alarm output connection (Yellow wire) if an external alarm is used.
  • Verify that the overspeed alarm value is set correctly and is not set to 0 or a value higher than your maximum speed.

Displaying 'Error'

  • If an 'Error' message appears on the display, refer to the 'Speed Ratio Setting' section in the detailed manual image for specific error codes and troubleshooting steps related to calibration.

User Tips

  • For optimal performance, ensure the speed sensor is correctly installed and calibrated according to your vehicle's specifications.
  • If replacing an existing speedometer, you might be able to use your current speed sensor, but always verify its compatibility with this ELING unit (Inductive & Hall Effect).
  • Take your time during the calibration process to ensure accuracy, as this directly impacts speed and mileage readings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to buy a separate speed sensor?

A: The speedometer works with existing inductive and Hall Effect speed senders. If your vehicle does not have one or if you need a replacement, a compatible sensor would need to be purchased separately. Please check the product page for recommended sensors or consult a professional.

Q: Where should the speed sensor be placed?

A: The speed sensor is typically installed on the vehicle's transmission or axle, where it can accurately measure rotational speed. Consult your vehicle's service manual or a professional for the exact placement for your specific truck model.
