  4. Connect Ethernet Devices (Optional): For wired connections, connect Ethernet cables from your computers, smart TVs, or other network devices to the available GE (Gigabit Ethernet) or FE (Fast Ethernet) ports on the rear of the GM630.

  5. Verify Status Indicators: Once powered on, observe the LED indicators on the front panel. Refer to the device's LED guide (if provided separately or on the device itself) to ensure all necessary indicators are lit correctly, signifying proper operation.

  6. Initial Access: To access the device's web management interface, open a web browser on a computer connected to the GM630 (either via Ethernet or WiFi). Enter the default IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) into the browser's address bar. Use the default username (admin) and password (admin) found on the bottom label of the device (Figure 3) to log in. It is highly recommended to change the default password immediately after the first login for security reasons.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Wireless Connectivity (WiFi)

The GM630 supports dual-band WiFi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) for flexible wireless connectivity. The default SSID (network name) and password for both bands are typically printed on the bottom label of the device (Figure 3).

  • 2.4GHz WiFi: Provides broader coverage and better penetration through walls, suitable for general internet use and older devices.
  • 5GHz WiFi: Offers faster speeds and lower latency, ideal for online gaming, HD video streaming, and newer devices, but with a shorter range.

To connect to WiFi:

  1. On your wireless device (smartphone, laptop, tablet), search for available WiFi networks.
  2. Select the SSID corresponding to your GM630 (e.g., 'SSID (2.4G)' or 'SSID (5G)').
  3. Enter the default WiFi password when prompted.

You can customize WiFi settings (SSID, password, security type) through the web management interface.

5.2 Wired Connectivity

The GM630 provides multiple Ethernet ports for wired connections:

  • GE Ports: Gigabit Ethernet ports offer high-speed wired connections, suitable for devices requiring maximum bandwidth (e.g., desktop computers, network-attached storage).
  • FE Ports: Fast Ethernet ports provide standard wired connections, suitable for devices with lower bandwidth requirements.

Simply connect an Ethernet cable from your device to any available GE or FE port on the GM630.

5.3 Device Configuration

The GM630 can be configured using various methods:

  • Web Management Interface: The primary method for configuration. Access it via a web browser using the device's IP address (default 192.168.1.1).
  • NMS (Network Management System): For service providers, the device can be managed remotely via a Network Management System.
  • TR069: Supports TR069 protocol for remote management and provisioning by Internet Service Providers.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep Clean: Regularly clean the exterior of the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the device is placed in a well-ventilated area. Do not block the ventilation holes, as the GM630 uses passive cooling. Proper airflow prevents overheating and ensures stable performance.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check with your service provider or the manufacturer's website for available firmware updates. Keeping the firmware up-to-date can improve performance, add new features, and enhance security.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the device within the specified temperature and humidity ranges (-5℃ to 45℃, 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity) to ensure longevity and optimal performance.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the device and a working electrical outlet. Check if the power outlet is functional.
  • No Internet Connection:
    • Verify that the optical fiber cable is correctly connected to the ONU and the optical interface LED is lit.
    • Check all Ethernet cables for wired connections.
    • Restart the GM630 by unplugging the power adapter, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in.
    • Log into the web management interface to check the WAN status and ensure your service provider's settings are correctly configured.
  • Poor WiFi Signal or Speed:
    • Relocate the GM630 to a more central position, away from obstacles and interference.
    • Ensure your wireless devices are within the effective range of the 2.4GHz or 5GHz network.
    • Try switching between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands on your client devices.
    • Check for other wireless devices operating on the same channels and consider changing the WiFi channel in the web management interface.
  • Cannot Access Web Management Interface:
    • Ensure your computer is connected to the GM630 via Ethernet or WiFi.
    • Verify that you are entering the correct IP address (default 192.168.1.1).
    • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking access.
    • If you have changed the default IP address and forgotten it, a factory reset may be necessary (consult your service provider or the device's full manual for reset procedures, as this will erase all custom settings).
