3. Setup and Connection
Your KEFAR barcode scanner supports three connection modes: Wireless 2.4G, Bluetooth, and USB Wired. Choose the mode that best suits your device and application.
3.1. Wireless 2.4G Connection
- Insert the 2.4G mini receiver into an available USB port on your computer or host device.
- Turn on the barcode scanner. It should automatically connect to the receiver. A confirmation sound or indicator light will signal a successful connection.
3.2. Bluetooth Connection
The scanner supports Bluetooth 4.2 technology, offering a reliable transmission distance of up to 30 meters in open areas. It supports HID, SPP, and BLE modes.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your host device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, PC).
- Turn on the barcode scanner.
- On your host device, search for available Bluetooth devices. The scanner should appear as "BARCODE SCANNER" or similar.
- Select the scanner to pair. A confirmation sound or indicator light will signal a successful connection.

3.3. USB Wired Connection
- Connect the scanner to your computer or host device using the provided USB cable.
- The scanner will function as a wired device, and no additional drivers are typically required (plug and play).
4. Operation
4.1. Scanning Barcodes
To scan a barcode, point the scanner's head at the barcode and press the scan button. The scanner will emit a light beam or crosshair. Ensure the entire barcode is within the scanning area for optimal reading. A successful scan is usually indicated by a beep and/or a green light.

4.2. OLED Display and Indicators
The integrated OLED display provides real-time status information, including:
- Battery Level: Indicates the current charge of the 950mAh lithium-ion battery.
- Connection Status: Shows if the scanner is connected via 2.4G wireless or Bluetooth.
- Memory Count: Displays the number of stored barcodes in storage mode.
- Identification Mode: Indicates the current operating mode (e.g., inventory mode).

4.3. Working Modes
- Synchronization Mode: Scanned data is immediately transferred to the connected device.
- Storage Mode: Scanned data is stored internally in the scanner's memory. The scanner can store over 100,000 product codes. Data can be uploaded later when connected.
4.4. Ergonomics and Design
The scanner features an ergonomic design for comfortable long-term use. The scan button is positioned for natural finger extension, and the device is lightweight.

5. Maintenance
5.1. Cleaning
- Regularly clean the scanning window with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- For stubborn dirt, use a mild cleaning solution applied to the cloth, not directly to the scanner.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
5.2. Battery Charging
The scanner is equipped with a 950mAh (or 2000mAh for some models) lithium-ion battery. Charge the device using the provided USB Type-C cable. The charging port is designed for stability, allowing the scanner to rest at a 15-degree angle on a desktop while charging.

5.3. Firmware Updates
The scanner supports online firmware updates. Refer to the KEFAR website or contact customer support for the latest firmware and update instructions.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Scanner does not power on | Low battery | Charge the scanner using the USB cable. |
| Cannot connect via 2.4G | Receiver not properly inserted or out of range | Ensure the 2.4G receiver is fully inserted into a USB port. Move the scanner closer to the receiver. |
| Cannot connect via Bluetooth | Bluetooth not enabled on host device, scanner not in pairing mode, or out of range | Enable Bluetooth on your device. Ensure the scanner is discoverable. Move closer to the host device. |
| Scanner not reading barcodes | Barcode damaged, poor lighting, scanning window dirty, or incorrect symbology settings | Ensure barcode is clear and well-lit. Clean the scanning window. Check scanner settings for supported symbologies. |
| Scanned data appears incorrectly | Incorrect keyboard layout or prefix/suffix settings | Verify keyboard layout on host device. Refer to the full manual for prefix/suffix and COM port settings. |
