5.3. Supported Symbologies

The scanner supports a wide range of 1D and 2D barcodes:

  • 1D Barcodes: Code 11, Code 93, MSI, Code 128, UCC/EAN-128, Code 39, EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, ISBN, Industrial 25, Interleaved 25, Standard 25, 2/5 Matrix. (Resolution 5mil)
  • 2D Barcodes: PDF417, Micro PDF417, Data Matrix, QR Code, Micro QR, Aztec, MaxiCode.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. For the scanning window, use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with a mild cleaning solution (e.g., isopropyl alcohol) if necessary. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the scanner regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period.
  • Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the scanner with care to prevent drops or impacts that could damage internal components.

7. Troubleshooting

Q: Some barcodes cannot be read, why?
  • Dirty or unclear barcodes: Ensure the barcode is clean and clearly printed.
  • Digital barcodes: Barcodes displayed on phones, computers, or tablets can be read by CCD or 2D scanners but not by laser barcode scanners. The NETUM Z2 uses a CMOS sensor, which can read digital barcodes.
  • Disabled barcode types: Some barcode types (e.g., MaxiCode, Interleaved 2 of 5) might be disabled by default. You need to activate specific barcode types by scanning programming barcodes. Refer to your Quick Start Guide or contact customer support for assistance.
Q: Is there any way to apply or remove 'Enter' for suffix?
Yes, you can refer to the Common Function Barcodes in your manual to reverse the setting or contact customer support for guidance on programming the scanner for suffix settings.
Q: The data cannot be sent to my computer. Why?
Please ensure you have turned off the inventory (offline storage) mode if you intend to transmit data instantly. If the scanner is in inventory mode, it will store your scans internally. You need to scan the 'Manual data upload' barcode to send the stored codes to your connected device.
Q: How to solve the messy code problem encountered while using other foreign languages?
The default language is English. Please refer to the 'Language Setting' chapter in your manual to change the setting to the appropriate language for correct character encoding.

8. User Tips

  • Programming Barcodes: Always keep your Quick Start Guide handy, as many advanced features and troubleshooting steps require scanning specific programming barcodes.
  • Offline Mode Management: If you frequently scan out of range, remember to periodically upload your stored data to prevent loss and clear the memory when full.
  • Language Settings: For non-English characters in barcodes, ensure the scanner's language setting matches your system's input language to avoid 'messy code' issues.
