5. Installation Guide
The smart switch module is designed for easy installation within an original wall box, converting your existing switch into a smart one. Always ensure power is disconnected before beginning installation.
5.1 Basic Wiring Diagram

5.2 Installation Steps
- Disconnect Power: Turn off the main power supply at your circuit breaker to avoid electrical shock.
- Access Wall Box: Remove your existing wall switch from its box.
- Connect Wires: Follow the wiring diagram (Figure 3) carefully.
- Connect the Live wire from your power source to the 'L-in' terminal of the module.
- Connect the Neutral wire from your power source to the 'N-in' terminal of the module.
- Connect the Live wire going to your light fixture (load) to the 'L-out' terminal of the module.
- Connect the Neutral wire going to your light fixture to the 'N-out' terminal of the module.
- If using external physical switches for 2-way control, connect them to the 'S1' and 'S2' terminals as shown in the diagram.
- Mount Module: Place the compact smart module into the wall box. Its small size (40x40x21mm) allows it to fit behind most traditional switches.
- Reinstall Switch Plate: Secure your original switch and cover plate back onto the wall box.
- Restore Power: Turn the main power supply back on at the circuit breaker.

6. Setup and Pairing
To use the smart features, you need to pair the module with the Smart Life or Tuya app.
6.1 App Download and Registration
- Download the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
- Register for a new account or log in with an existing one.
6.2 Pairing Process
- Enter Pairing Mode: Long press the physical switch connected to the module for 5 seconds until the indicator light on the module flashes rapidly (DI DI DI). This indicates it's in pairing status.
- Add Device in App: Open the Smart Life/Tuya app. Tap '+' or 'Add Device'.
- Select Device Type: Choose 'Electrician' > 'Switch Module (Wi-Fi)' or 'Lighting' > 'Light Source (Wi-Fi)'.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Enter your Wi-Fi password in the app.
- Confirm Flashing: Confirm that the indicator light on the module is flashing rapidly in the app.
- Pairing: The app will begin scanning for the device. Once found, it will be added to your device list.
- Rename Device: You can rename the switch (e.g., 'Bedroom Light') for easier control.
7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Mobile App Control
Once paired, you can control the switch from anywhere with an internet connection using the Smart Life/Tuya app.
- On/Off Control: Tap the switch icon in the app to turn the connected device on or off.
- Timing: Set schedules for automatic on/off times (e.g., turn on at 7:30 AM, turn off at 9:30 PM).
- Countdown: Set a countdown timer for the device to turn off after a specified duration.

7.2 Voice Control
The module is compatible with popular voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant.
- Link Accounts: In the Alexa or Google Home app, link your Smart Life/Tuya account.
- Discover Devices: Ask your voice assistant to discover new devices.
- Voice Commands: Use commands such as:
- "Alexa, turn on [Device Name]"
- "Hey Google, turn off [Device Name]"
- "Alexa, dim living room light to 50%" (if connected to a dimmable light and module supports dimming)

7.3 2-Way Control (with RF 433Mhz models)
For models with RF 433Mhz, you can achieve 2-way control using compatible RF switches, allowing control from multiple physical locations.
8. Advanced Features
8.1 Networking Technology
- One-to-Many Control: A single smartphone can control multiple smart switch modules.
- Many-to-One Control: A single smart switch module can be controlled by multiple smartphones (e.g., by different family members).

8.2 Group Control
Group multiple lights or devices together in the app to control them simultaneously. This is useful for rooms with multiple light sources or for creating specific lighting scenes.
8.3 Smart Scenes and Automation
Integrate the smart switch module into broader smart home scenes. For example:
- "Good Morning" Scene: Automatically open curtains (if connected to a smart curtain motor) and turn on bedroom lights at a set time.
- "Away" Scene: Turn off all lights and activate security cameras when you leave home.

8.4 Sharing and Security
The main account holder can share control of the device with other family members. Once a device is added by the main account, it is secured and cannot be added by other users without explicit sharing, ensuring privacy and control.
9. Troubleshooting
- Device not pairing: Ensure your Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz. Check if the module is in pairing mode (rapidly flashing indicator). Move the module closer to your Wi-Fi router.
- No response from app/voice control: Verify your internet connection. Check if the device is online in the app. Ensure voice assistant accounts are correctly linked.
- Physical switch not working: Check wiring connections, especially S1/S2 terminals. Ensure the module has power.
- Intermittent connection: This could be due to weak Wi-Fi signal. Consider a Wi-Fi extender or repositioning your router.
10. User Tips
- Labeling: After installation, consider labeling the physical switch or the module's location for easy identification, especially if you have multiple smart devices.
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check the Smart Life/Tuya app for firmware updates for your module to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Power Outage Recovery: The module typically remembers its last state (on/off) after a power outage, but you can configure this behavior in the app settings under 'Relay Status'.
11. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the device if installed in a confined space.
