4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment

Rotate the Power/Volume switch clockwise to turn on the radio and increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and turn off the radio.

5.2 Frequency Input (VFO Mode)

The UV15 Pro Max features a full keyboard for manual frequency input. This allows for direct entry of desired frequencies without needing programming software.

  1. Press the 'MENU' button to access the menu.
  2. Navigate to the VFO (Variable Frequency Oscillator) mode.
  3. Use the numeric keypad to enter the desired frequency.
  4. Press 'MENU' again to confirm or 'EXIT' to cancel.

5.3 Channel Mode

The radio supports up to 999 memory channels. In Channel Mode, you can select pre-programmed channels for communication.

  1. Switch to Channel Mode (refer to your specific menu settings).
  2. Use the Up/Down arrow keys or the numeric keypad to select a channel.

5.4 Dual Band, Dual Display, Dual Standby

The UV15 Pro Max operates on both VHF (136-174MHz) and UHF (400-520MHz) bands. It can display two frequencies simultaneously and monitor both, switching to the active one automatically.

5.5 FM Radio Function

The radio includes a commercial FM radio receiver (88-108MHz).

  1. Press the dedicated FM button (or navigate via menu) to enter FM radio mode.
  2. Use the keypad or arrow keys to tune to your desired FM station.

5.6 VOX Function (Hands-Free)

VOX (Voice Operated Transmit) allows you to transmit by speaking into the microphone without pressing the PTT button.
