5. Setup and Installation
The installation process generally involves removing the existing rear sight of your pistol and securing the mount plate in its place. Then, the red dot sight is attached to the mount plate.
- Clear the Firearm: Ensure the pistol is unloaded and safe. Remove the magazine and visually and physically inspect the chamber to confirm it is empty.
- Remove Rear Sight: Carefully remove the existing rear sight from your pistol's slide. This often requires a sight pusher tool or a brass punch and hammer. Refer to your pistol's specific manual for detailed instructions on rear sight removal.
- Position the Mount Plate: Place the Red Dot Mount Plate into the dovetail slot where the rear sight was removed. Ensure it sits flush and correctly aligned.
- Secure the Mount Plate: Use the provided screws and wrench to securely fasten the mount plate to the pistol slide. Apply appropriate torque to prevent loosening under recoil, but do not overtighten.
- Attach Red Dot Sight: Place your compatible red dot sight onto the mount plate. Align the screw holes on the red dot sight with those on the mount plate.
- Secure Red Dot Sight: Use the appropriate screws (usually provided with the red dot sight or the mount plate) to attach the red dot sight to the mount plate. Tighten these screws firmly using the provided wrench.
- Function Check: After installation, perform a function check of your firearm to ensure all components operate correctly and safely.
- Sight-in: Take your firearm to a safe shooting range and properly sight-in your red dot optic.

Once properly installed and sighted-in, the mount plate itself requires no further operation. The red dot sight attached to it will function according to its own manufacturer's instructions. Always follow safe firearm handling practices when using your pistol with the red dot sight.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the mount plate with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the mount plate and all screws for any signs of loosening, wear, or damage. Ensure all screws remain tight.
- Storage: Store your firearm and accessories in a clean, dry, and secure location.
8. Troubleshooting
8.1. Red Dot Sight is Loose
- Ensure the screws attaching the red dot sight to the mount plate are properly tightened.
- Verify that the red dot sight's footprint matches the mount plate's design.
8.2. Mount Plate is Loose on Slide
- Ensure the screws securing the mount plate to the pistol slide are properly tightened.
- Confirm that the mount plate is fully seated in the dovetail slot.
8.3. Incompatibility Issues
- Double-check the pistol model against the compatibility list in Section 4.2.
- Ensure your red dot sight's footprint matches the specifications in Section 4.3.
- Note that this plate is not compatible with airsoft versions like KJW P226 or Marui-like models.
9. User Tips
- Verify Specific Model: Before purchasing or installing, always confirm the exact model of your Sig Sauer pistol and compare it against the compatibility list. Some variations, especially airsoft models (e.g., Sig Air P226 MK25, WE Tech 226), may not be compatible despite similar naming.
- Professional Installation: If you are not confident in performing the installation yourself, it is highly recommended to have a qualified gunsmith install the mount plate and red dot sight to ensure proper fit and function.
- Threadlocker: Consider using a small amount of non-permanent threadlocker (e.g., blue Loctite) on the mounting screws for added security, especially for the screws attaching the red dot to the plate.
