  1. Place the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges are facing the correct direction (away from the motor at the top of the bar).
  2. Fit the chain and bar onto the saw's drive sprocket.
  3. Replace the bar cover and hand-tighten the bolt.

5.3 Chain Tensioning

The DCMPS520N features bolt lock chain tensioning for reliable bar retention. A wrench is conveniently stored inside the bar cover for this purpose.

  1. Loosen the bar cover bolt slightly.
  2. Using the onboard wrench, adjust the tensioning screw until the chain is snug against the guide bar, but can still be pulled freely by hand. There should be no slack on the underside of the bar.
  3. Tighten the bar cover bolt securely.
  4. Check tension again after a few cuts, as new chains can stretch.

5.4 Oiling the Chain

This pruning saw features an automatic oiler system to keep the bar and chain lubricated during use. Ensure the oil reservoir is filled before each use.

  1. Locate the oil reservoir cap (usually on the top or side of the saw body).
  2. Unscrew the cap and fill the reservoir with appropriate bar and chain oil. Do not overfill.
  3. Replace the cap securely.
  4. Periodically check the oil level during operation and refill as needed.
