Important:

  • When measuring current, ensure the conductor is placed in the center of the clamp head to minimize measurement error.
  • The meter can only measure one current-carrying conductor at a time. Measuring two or more conductors simultaneously will result in incorrect readings.

4.2.2 AC/DC Voltage Measurement

The meter automatically identifies AC or DC voltage. For AC voltage, the frequency will also be displayed.

4.2.5 Frequency Measurement

The meter can measure frequencies up to 1000Hz.

4.2.6 Continuity Test

A built-in buzzer will sound if the measured resistance is less than 30Ω, indicating continuity.

4.2.7 Diode Test

Displays the approximate forward voltage drop of a diode.

4.2.8 NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Detection

The NCV function detects alternating current voltage without direct contact. It displays an analog bar strength and emits sounds of varying frequencies based on the proximity to the power source.

5. Maintenance

This section provides basic maintenance information, including battery replacement instructions. Do not attempt to repair this meter unless you are an experienced service technician with relevant calibration, performance testing, and repair documentation.

5.1 General Maintenance

  • To avoid electric shock or damage to the meter, do not allow moisture inside the meter.
  • Before opening the casing or battery cover, ensure all test leads and input signal connections are removed.
  • Regularly clean the meter casing with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemical solvents.
  • Dirty or wet input jacks can affect readings. To clean:
    1. Turn off the meter and remove all test leads from the input jacks.
    2. Remove any visible dirt from the jacks.
    3. Use a new cotton swab with a cleaning agent or lubricant to clean each jack. Lubricants can help prevent moisture-related contamination.

5.2 Battery Replacement

WARNING: To avoid incorrect readings that could lead to electric shock or personal injury, replace the batteries immediately when the 🔋 symbol appears on the display.

Follow the steps in Section 3.1 for battery replacement.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Meter Not Turning On: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Unstable Readings: Ensure the meter is not being used near strong electromagnetic interference. Check test lead connections for cleanliness and secure fit.
  • 'OL' on Display: This indicates an over-range condition. Select a higher range or ensure the measured value is within the meter's capabilities.
  • Low Battery Indicator: The 🔋 symbol indicates low battery. Replace the two 1.5V AAA batteries as described in Section 3.1.
  • No Continuity Buzzer: Ensure the resistance being measured is below 30Ω. Check test leads for proper connection and integrity.
  • Inaccurate Current Measurement: Ensure only one current-carrying conductor is placed within the clamp jaw and it is centered.

8. User Tips

  • Start with Auto-Ranging: For unknown values, especially voltage or resistance, always start with the auto-ranging feature (if available on your model) to prevent damage to the meter or circuit.
  • Correct Lead Placement: Double-check that your test leads are inserted into the correct input jacks for the measurement you intend to perform. Incorrect placement can lead to false readings or damage.
  • NCV for Initial Safety: Before touching any wires, use the NCV function to quickly check for the presence of voltage. This is a crucial safety step.
  • One Conductor for Current: Remember that clamp meters measure current by detecting the magnetic field around a single conductor. Never clamp around multiple wires simultaneously for current measurement.
  • Keep it Clean: Regularly wipe down your meter and clean the test lead jacks to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
