3. Setup and Initial Configuration

3.1 Powering On and Connection

  1. Locate your vehicle's OBD-II port, typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Connect the OBD II diagnostic cable to the scanner and then to the vehicle's OBD-II port.
  3. The scanner will power on automatically. If not, press the power button.

3.2 Language Selection

The device supports 11 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Polish. You can select your preferred language in the 'Settings' menu.

3.3 Wi-Fi Connection and Software Update

To ensure optimal performance and access to the latest vehicle data, it is crucial to keep your scanner's software updated. The CRP129E V2.0 supports lifetime free updates via Wi-Fi.

  1. Navigate to the 'Upgrade' icon on the main screen.
  2. Connect the device to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  3. Select all available software updates and tap 'Update'. The updates will download and install automatically.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Auto VIN Identification

The Auto VIN feature automatically identifies your vehicle's make, model, and year, streamlining the diagnostic process. After connecting the scanner, it will attempt to read the VIN. If successful, it will proceed to scan vehicle systems. If Auto VIN is not supported by your vehicle, you can manually enter the VIN.

4.2 4-System Diagnostics

The CRP129E V2.0 provides in-depth diagnostics for the following four critical vehicle systems:

  • Engine System Diagnosis: Reads and clears Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and views live data streams to pinpoint engine problems and turn off warning lights.
  • ABS System Diagnosis: Accesses the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to view live data, retrieve fault codes, and troubleshoot ABS issues, turning off the warning light.
  • SRS System Diagnosis: Detects electronic parameters in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) to check health status, address potential issues, and turn off the airbag warning light.
  • Transmission System Diagnosis: Checks the Transmission system by reading codes and viewing live data to ensure proper power delivery to the wheels and turn off warning lights.

4.3 Full OBD2 Functions

The scanner supports all 10 OBD-II test modes for vehicles compliant with 1996 OBDII/EOBD/JOBD/KOBD/CAN standards:

  1. Reading Codes: Displays detailed descriptions of DTCs.
  2. Erasing Codes & Reset: Turns off the Check Engine Light (MIL), clears codes, and resets monitors.
  3. Data Stream: Reads and displays live ECU/PCM data, graphically plotting functions, and stores freeze frame data.
  4. I/M Readiness Status: Shows if emissions-related systems are operating correctly and ready for testing.
  5. Read Live Data Stream: Displays continuous data stream information in a live graphic (waveform) display.
  6. View Freeze Frame Data: Checks vehicle conditions recorded by the on-board computer when an emission-related fault occurs.
  7. O2 Sensor Test: Allows retrieval and viewing of O2 sensor monitor test results.
  8. On-Board Monitor Test: Retrieves and displays test results for emission-related powertrain components and systems.
  9. Read Vehicle Information: Displays VIN, CID (Calibration ID), and CVN (Calibration Verification Number).
  10. Component Test: Actuates certain vehicle components via commands from the scanner to test their operability.

4.4 Live Data Stream Analysis and Battery Monitoring

The CRP129E V2.0 allows you to view live sensor data and provides data graphing for intuitive diagnostics. You can merge up to four data streams in one graph for easy review and analysis. It also monitors vehicle battery voltage in real-time with reliable graph data, helping to assess battery health.

5. Maintenance and Service Functions

5.1 12 Hot Reset Service Functions

The CRP129E V2.0 offers 12 essential reset service functions to meet your daily car maintenance needs:

  1. Oil Lamp Reset Service: Resets the Engine Oil Life system after an oil change.
  2. SAS Steering Angle Sensor Reset: Resets the steering angle to zero for proper vehicle alignment.
  3. Electronic Throttle Position Reset: Initializes throttle actuators and returns learned values to default for accurate air intake control.
  4. BMS Reset/Battery Matching: Performs a resetting operation on the vehicle battery monitoring unit, clearing old fault information and matching the battery.
  5. DPF Reset: Clears Particulate Matter (PM) from the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) through regeneration.
  6. Injector Coding: Writes or rewrites injector codes in the ECU for precise cylinder injection quantity control.
  7. RESET ETS/ELEC.THROTTLE RLRN: Initializes the throttle actuator to return the ECU's learning value to its initial state.
  8. ABS Bleeding: Performs bleeding functions for the ABS system.
  9. TPMS Reset: Resets the Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
  10. AFS Reset: Resets the Adaptive Front-lighting System.
  11. A/F Adjust: Adjusts the Air/Fuel Ratio.

5.2 Diagnostic Report Sharing

After completing a diagnostic scan, the device can generate a professional diagnostic report. This report can be shared via Wi-Fi to clients or technicians for review and further action.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the OBD-II cable is securely connected to both the scanner and the vehicle's OBD-II port. Check the vehicle's battery status.
  • Auto VIN feature not working: If the Auto VIN feature does not work on your specific vehicle, you can manually enter the vehicle's VIN to proceed with diagnostics.
  • Software update issues: Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection during updates. If issues persist, contact technical support.
  • DTCs not clearing: Some DTCs may require specific driving cycles or repairs before they can be cleared. Consult your vehicle's service manual or a qualified mechanic.
