2. Safety and General Information

4.2 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Align the battery pack with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
  3. Gently push the battery into place until it clicks securely.
  4. To remove, slide the battery release latch and pull the battery away from the radio.

4.3 Antenna Installation

  1. Locate the antenna connector on the top of the radio.
  2. Screw the antenna clockwise onto the connector until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

4.4 Charging the Battery

The RT-630 features convenient USB-C charging.

  1. Connect the USB-C charging cable to the USB-C port on the radio (located at the bottom of the battery or side, depending on the model variant).
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  3. The LED indicator on the radio will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

  1. Power On: Rotate the Volume/Power knob clockwise until you hear a click. The display will light up.
  2. Power Off: Rotate the Volume/Power knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.
  3. Volume Adjustment: Rotate the Volume/Power knob to adjust the audio level.

5.2 Frequency and Channel Selection

The RT-630 supports both VFO (Frequency Mode) and Channel Mode.

  • VFO Mode: Directly input frequencies using the keypad. Use the UP/DOWN keys to fine-tune the frequency.
  • Channel Mode: Use the UP/DOWN keys to navigate through the 256 stored memory channels.
  • Editing Channel Name: You can manually edit channel names and ANI names directly from the radio's keypad. Refer to the full user manual for detailed steps.

5.3 Transmitting and Receiving

  1. Transmit (TX): Press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on the side of the radio to transmit. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
  2. Receive (RX): The radio will automatically receive signals on the selected frequency/channel. Adjust the squelch level (0-9/off) to filter out background noise.

5.4 Special Features

5.4.1 Air Band Receive (AM)

The RT-630 can receive Air Band communications in AM mode within the 108-136MHz range (expandable to 137MHz). This feature is useful for monitoring aviation traffic.
