2.1 Pre-Installation Check

Before proceeding with the installation, please ensure the backup camera is working correctly by temporarily connecting it to your monitor.

2.4 Video Signal Mode Selection

The camera supports both CVBS and AHD video signal modes. The default mode varies by model:

  • P31-D (AHD 720P): Default CVBS mode. To switch to AHD 720P 25fps mode, cut the orange wire.
  • P31-E (AHD 1080P): Default AHD 1080P 25fps mode. To switch to CVBS mode, cut the orange wire.

Note: If your head unit does not support the currently selected video signal mode, the reverse image will not be displayed. Always check your head unit's compatibility before cutting wires.

2.5 Wire Cutting Instructions

The camera has three switchable functions controlled by cutting specific wires:

  1. Orange Wire: Switches between CVBS and AHD video modes (specific to P31-D or P31-E).
  2. White Wire: Switches between mirror image (rear view) and positive image (front view).
  3. Green Wire: Toggles the reverse line (parking guidelines) on or off.

Important: After cutting any color wire, you must reboot the backup camera power for changes to take effect.

2.6 Camera Angle Adjustment

The camera body supports 360° rotation and 45° up/down, left/right adjustment. After adjusting the angle, tighten the screws with the attached screwdrivers to secure the position.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Setting the Rear Lens on Your Monitor

Lenses with CVBS video signals are compatible with all monitors. However, AHD lenses are only compatible with AHD monitors. Ensure your monitor is set to the correct video input type (AHD 720p 25fps, AHD 1080p 25fps, etc.) to display the image correctly.

4. Maintenance

Regularly clean the lens of the backup camera to prevent dust, water drops, snow, or other debris from obstructing the view. Use a soft, clean cloth and a gentle cleaning solution if necessary.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Image Quality Issues

  • Blurry, Flickering, or Stripes: If the image on the screen is blurry, flickering, or has horizontal/vertical stripes, check if your monitor supports the current video signal mode of the backup camera. Also, ensure all wiring connections are correct and secure.

5.2 Compatibility Issues

  • No Image Display: If your head unit does not support the currently selected video signal mode (CVBS or AHD), the reverse image will not be displayed. Adjust the camera's signal mode by cutting the orange wire as per instructions.
  • Specialized Monitors: This is a universal backup camera for monitors with an RCA connector. If your monitor only supports specialized backup cameras (e.g., those using a 4-pin 2.5mm Jack cable), this camera may not be compatible. Consult your monitor dealer or manual for specific limitations.
  • GPS Devices: If connecting to a GPS device, an additional adapter with RCA connectors may be required.

5.3 Installation Issues

  • Reverse Line Offset: The backup camera is best suited to be mounted in the middle of the license plate. If mounted on the side, the reverse line may appear offset.
  • No Signal: Ensure the red wire of the power cable is connected to the reversing light's positive terminal and the black wire to ground. Restart the head unit after installation.

8. User Tips

  • Signal Compatibility: If you experience a 'no signal' message, especially when switching between CVBS and AHD, double-check that your head unit explicitly supports the selected signal type. Some older units might only support CVBS.
  • Connector Types: Be aware that this camera uses an RCA connector. If your existing system (e.g., a rearview recorder) uses a different connector like a 4-pin 2.5mm Jack cable, you will need an appropriate adapter.
  • Power Cycle After Wire Cuts: Always remember to power cycle your camera (and ideally your head unit) after cutting any of the control wires (orange, white, green) to ensure the changes are applied.
