7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • Device not connecting to platform:
Ensure the SIM card is correctly inserted and meets all requirements (2G GSM, data, SMS, caller ID enabled, Nano size). Verify that the APN settings are correctly configured for your SIM card provider. Check if the vehicle is in an area with good cellular signal.
  • Inaccurate location data:
If the device is in an area with poor satellite signal (e.g., underground garage), location accuracy will rely on LBS, which is less precise (100-2000m). Move the vehicle to an open area for better GPS accuracy (5-10m).
  • No alarms received:
Check your platform settings to ensure alarms are enabled and configured correctly. Verify that your mobile app notifications are turned on.
  • Device not powering on:
Ensure the tracker is securely plugged into the OBDII port and the vehicle's ignition is on (if required by your vehicle's OBD port).

8. User Tips

  • SIM Card Selection: Always double-check that your chosen SIM card (whether Spionlink or local) is compatible with 2G GSM networks and has data services enabled for optimal performance.
  • APN Configuration: Correct APN configuration is crucial for the tracker to communicate with the MiCODUS platform. Obtain this information directly from your SIM card provider.
  • Default Password: For security, change the default login password (123456) for your tracking account immediately after your first login.
  • Backup Battery Life: The internal backup battery provides 1 to 4 hours of operation. This is primarily for alerts like 'plug out alarm' when the main power is disconnected.
  • Installation Location: While the device is compact and easy to hide, ensure it's not obstructed in a way that severely impacts GPS or cellular signal reception.
