4.3.5 Pythagorean Measurement
This mode is used to calculate indirect measurements (e.g., height) using the Pythagorean theorem. There are typically two types:
- Single Pythagorean: Measure the hypotenuse and one leg to find the other leg.
- Double Pythagorean: Measure multiple segments to calculate a height or distance.
Follow the on-screen prompts and diagrams for each step of the measurement. Ensure the device is held steady and level for accurate results.

4.4 Data Storage and Clear
- The device offers reasonable data storage for previous measurements.
- To clear the current measurement from the display, press the C/OFF button briefly.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Regularly clean the laser lens with a soft, dry cloth to ensure accurate measurements. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Wipe the device body with a slightly damp cloth if necessary.
5.2 Storage
- When not in use for extended periods, store the device in a dry, cool place within the storage temperature range of -25℃ to 60℃.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
5.3 Battery Care
- Recharge the device regularly, even if not in frequent use, to maintain battery health.
- Avoid completely draining the battery before recharging.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your JQ40 Laser Distance Meter, try the following:
- Device not turning on: Check battery level and recharge if necessary.
- Inaccurate measurements: Ensure the laser lens is clean. Verify the correct reference point is selected. Ensure the target surface is suitable for laser reflection.
- Laser not emitting: Check battery level. Ensure the device is not in an error state (clear data with C/OFF button).
