1. Introduction

The liitokala JQ40 Mini Laser Distance Meter is a precise and versatile tool designed for various measurement tasks in home, construction, industrial, residential, and warehouse environments. This device is powered by an energy-efficient, rechargeable lithium battery, capable of performing approximately 2000 measurements on a full charge. It offers three measurement units: meters (m), inches (in), and feet (ft), allowing for flexible and quick measurements.

3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

  1. Locate the USB charging port on the side of the device (refer to Figure 1).
  2. Connect the provided USB data cable to the device and a standard USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter).
  3. The battery display on the screen will indicate charging status. Ensure the device is fully charged before first use for optimal battery life. A full charge allows for approximately 2000 measurements.

3.2 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press the ON button. The screen will light up.
  • To Power Off: Long press the C/OFF button. The device will automatically shut down after 480 seconds of inactivity.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Measurement

  1. Power On: Press the ON button.
  2. Set Reference Point: Press the Datum shift (square icon) button to switch between measuring from the front or rear edge of the device. The baseline indicator on the screen will show the active reference point.
  3. Initiate Measurement: Aim the laser at the target point and press the ON button again. The measured distance will appear on the main display area.

4.2 Unit Switching

Press the +/U button to cycle through the available measurement units: meters (m), inches (in), and feet (ft).

4.3 Advanced Measurement Modes

Press the Triangle icon button to cycle through different measurement modes.

4.3.1 Straight Line Measurement (Distance)

This is the default mode for single length or height measurements. Simply aim and press the ON button.

4.3.2 Continuous Measurement (Max/Min)

Long press the ON button to activate continuous measurement. The screen will display the maximum, minimum, and instant measurements. This is useful for diagonal measurements or finding the shortest/longest distance while moving the device.

4.3.3 Area Measurement

  1. Press the Triangle icon button until the area icon flashes.
  2. Measure the length (a) and then the width (b). The rangefinder will automatically calculate and display the area.

4.3.4 Volume Measurement

  1. Press the Triangle icon button until the volume icon flashes.
  2. Measure the length (a), width (b), and height (c) in sequence. The rangefinder will automatically calculate and display the volume.

4.3.5 Pythagorean Measurement

This mode is used to calculate indirect measurements (e.g., height) using the Pythagorean theorem. There are typically two types:

  1. Single Pythagorean: Measure the hypotenuse and one leg to find the other leg.
  2. Double Pythagorean: Measure multiple segments to calculate a height or distance.

Follow the on-screen prompts and diagrams for each step of the measurement. Ensure the device is held steady and level for accurate results.

4.4 Data Storage and Clear

  • The device offers reasonable data storage for previous measurements.
  • To clear the current measurement from the display, press the C/OFF button briefly.

5.1 Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the laser lens with a soft, dry cloth to ensure accurate measurements. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Wipe the device body with a slightly damp cloth if necessary.

5.2 Storage
