4.1 NVR Wiring and Connection

Follow these steps to connect your NVR system:

  1. Power on the NVR using the provided DC 48~52V power adapter.
  2. Connect your NVR to your router using an Ethernet cable via the UP LINK port.
  3. Connect the NVR to a monitor or display using either a VGA or HDMI cable.
  4. Connect the PoE Cameras to the NVR using PoE Ethernet cables via the PoE 1-8 ports.
  5. Switch on the NVR and the connected monitor.
  6. If your monitor lacks a built-in speaker, connect external speakers to the 3.5mm "AUDIO OUT" port on the NVR to hear recorded audio.

After completing these connections, live images from the cameras should appear on your monitor. You can then proceed with camera installation and further wiring as needed.

4.2 Camera Installation Considerations

Proper camera placement is crucial for optimal performance. Avoid these common installation mistakes:

Camera installation considerations

Figure 4.2.1: Camera Installation Guidelines

Wrong Viewing Angles

  • Wrong Way: Installing the camera lens too close to a wall can cause infrared light to reflect back into the lens at night, degrading image quality.
  • Right Way: Adjust the camera lens direction to ensure it is sufficiently away from any walls to prevent IR reflection.

Close Object Reflects

  • Wrong Way: Objects placed too close to the camera lens can reflect IR light, causing glare in the footage.
  • Right Way: Move objects away from the camera lens or adjust the camera's installation position to avoid obstructions.

Close Wire Cable Reflects

  • Wrong Way: Power or Ethernet cables positioned too close to the camera lens can reflect IR light, similar to physical objects.
  • Right Way: Route power and Ethernet cables away from the camera lens and secure them to the back of the camera.

4.3 Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Installation

An HDD is required for recording and playback. Ensure it is installed before proceeding.

Hard Disk Drive Installation Steps

Figure 4.3.1: Hard Disk Drive Installation Steps

  1. Remove the NVR case.
  2. Plug in the SATA cable to connect the HDD to the NVR motherboard.
  3. Secure the HDD to the bottom of the NVR case with screws.
  4. Install the NVR case back.

⚠️ Notice: Use a specialized monitoring hard drive (3.5" or 2.5" SATA) for prolonged recording. The HDD must be formatted before first use. It will automatically overwrite older videos when full if configured to do so.

⚠️ Warning: Always ensure the NVR is powered off before installing the HDD.

4.4 Initial Boot & Preview

Verify that the power supply meets the NVR's requirements. After connecting power, the NVR's front indicator will light up, a buzzer will sound, and the display will boot to show the preview image. The device will automatically restore its previous state after a non-normal power failure.

4.5 Login System

Upon first login, a quick guide will assist you with basic NVR setup. After normal boot, you must log in. The system grants functions based on user rights.

  • User name: admin (default)
  • Password: Leave blank as default.

4.6 Time & Language Configuration

Adjust the system's time, date, and language settings to match your local preferences.

4.7 Network Configuration

If the network connection displays "Test Gateway ... ERR", click on 'Network' and enable DHCP to prevent IP address conflicts. You can also scan the QR code provided on the screen to download the mobile application.

7.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • No Image on Monitor:
    • Check all power connections to the NVR and monitor.
    • Verify VGA/HDMI cable connection.
    • Ensure NVR and monitor are switched on.
  • Camera Not Recording:
    • Ensure an HDD is correctly installed and formatted (FAT32).
    • Check recording schedule and mode settings (Main Menu > Record Conf.).
    • Verify camera connection to NVR PoE ports.
  • "Test Gateway ... ERR" on Network:
    • Go to Main Menu > Network and enable DHCP to resolve IP conflicts.
    • Ensure the NVR is connected to the router via the UP LINK port.
  • Pink or Purple Picture from Camera:
    • This can indicate an issue with the IR-Cut filter. Right-click the mouse and go to IPC param. > Image Set, then click IR Swap to reset the filter.
  • False Alarms:
    • Ensure "Human Detect" is enabled in Main Menu > Alarm > Intelligent Alert to filter out non-human movements.
    • Adjust detection sensitivity.
    • Define safe zones or line cross rules to focus detection on critical areas.
  • Cannot Access Camera Remotely via App:
    • Verify NVR network connection.
    • Ensure the camera is added correctly to the app using its Serial Number, username, and password.
    • Check if your router's firewall is blocking connections (advanced users may need to configure port forwarding, though P2P usually bypasses this).
  • NVR Not Detecting HDD:
    • Check physical SATA cable connections.
    • Ensure the HDD is a specialized monitoring drive.
    • Format the HDD if it's new or recently installed.
