1. Introduction

The Asia-Teco vcotrol4 series is a versatile, multi-function standalone access controller designed for single-door applications. It can also function as a Wiegand output reader. This device offers user-friendly operation and a low-power circuit for extended service life. It integrates seamlessly with the Tuya app, supporting user and temporary password settings, as well as real-time monitoring of the doorbell camera.

2.1 Vcontrol 4-K (Keypad Video Intercom Access)

  • Access Methods: Keypad (password), 125KHz EM Card, Mobile App.
  • Features: All standard features listed in the Introduction.

2.2 Vcontrol 4-R (RFID Video Intercom Access)

  • Access Methods: 125KHz EM Card, Mobile App.
  • Features: All standard features listed in the Introduction.

4. Setup

4.1 App Download and Registration

  1. Download the free TuyaSmart or Smartlife app from Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS).
  2. Ensure your mobile phone's Wi-Fi is working and connected to a 2.4GHz network.
  3. Register and log in to the app. Use a valid email address for account recovery.

4.2 Adding the Device

  1. In the app, click 'Add Device' or the '+' icon at the top right.
  2. It is recommended to turn on Bluetooth on your phone for faster device discovery.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  4. Reset the device first, then confirm that the indicator light is blinking rapidly as prompted by the app.
  5. Once added successfully, you can assign the device to a room.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Remote Unlock

You can remotely unlock your door using the mobile app from anywhere with internet access.

5.2 Video Surveillance

Monitor your entrance in real-time through the app. This feature allows you to view live video streams from the doorbell camera.

5.3 Video Calling

When someone rings the doorbell, you will receive a notification on your phone. You can answer the call, engage in two-way audio communication, and remotely unlock the door if desired.

5.4 User Management

Super administrators or administrators can add or remove users directly through the app. Ensure new members register an account first. Administrators have full control over devices and members, while ordinary members can only view unlock and alarm records.

5.5 Temporary Codes (Vcontrol 4-K)

For devices with a keypad, you can generate and share temporary access codes. These codes can be set for a specific duration (cyclic) or for a single use. Share them via messaging apps or email.

5.6 Access Log

The app maintains a log of all door opening events and alarms, allowing you to review who accessed the door and when.

5.7 Physical Access Methods

  • Password (Vcontrol 4-K): Enter your registered password on the keypad.
  • RFID Card (All models): Swipe a registered 125KHz EM card over the sensor area.
  • Fingerprint (Vcontrol 4-F): Place a registered finger on the semiconductor fingerprint sensor.

6. Wiring Diagrams

7. User Tips

  • External Doorbell Connection: For connecting an external doorbell, refer to the detailed wiring diagrams in Section 6.3. The diagrams show specific terminals for doorbell connections, even if not explicitly labeled 'BELL' on the main unit.
  • Complete System Components: The access control unit typically does not include a power supply, exit button, or the doorbell itself. These are usually separate components that need to be purchased and wired according to the provided diagrams.
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity: Always ensure your router is configured for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi during initial setup, as the device does not support 5GHz networks.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Device Not Connecting to Wi-Fi

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The device does not support 5GHz.
  • Check your Wi-Fi password for accuracy.
  • Make sure the device is in pairing mode (indicator blinking rapidly). If not, reset the device.
  • Bring your mobile phone closer to the device and Wi-Fi router during setup.

8.2 Door Not Unlocking

  • Verify all wiring connections (power, lock, exit button) are secure and correct according to the diagrams in Section 6.
  • Ensure the access method (password, card, fingerprint) is correctly registered and entered.
  • Check if the lock itself is functioning correctly.
  • Confirm the device has power.

8.3 Fingerprint/Card Not Recognized

  • Ensure the fingerprint or card is properly registered in the app.
  • For fingerprints, ensure your finger is clean and dry, and placed flat on the sensor.
  • For cards, ensure it is a 125KHz EM card and is swiped correctly over the sensor area.

8.4 Video Call Issues

  • Check your internet connection speed and stability.
  • Ensure the app has necessary permissions (camera, microphone, notifications) on your mobile device.
  • Restart the app and/or your mobile device.

9. Maintenance

9.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the device surface with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and electronic components.
  • Keep the camera lens and fingerprint sensor clean for optimal performance.

9.2 Firmware Updates

  • Periodically check the TuyaSmart or Smartlife app for available firmware updates.
  • Updates can improve performance, add new features, and enhance security.
  • Follow the in-app instructions carefully when performing firmware updates.

10. Warranty

This product comes with a one-year warranty from the date of original purchase. The warranty does not cover defects caused by buyer misuse, fire, or other similar incidents. If the product damage is caused by the buyer, shipping fees for warranty service may be borne by the buyer.
