8. Maintenance and Care

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your EVDANCE Portable EV Charger, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the charger and cables with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and ensure the unit is completely dry before next use. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the charger in its portable bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid coiling the cable too tightly.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the charging cable, plugs, and connectors for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. If any damage is found, discontinue use immediately and contact customer support.
  • Environmental Protection: The charger has an IP66 rating, making it resistant to dust and water jets. It can operate in temperatures from -22°F to 122°F. However, prolonged exposure to extreme conditions should be minimized when possible.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your EVDANCE Portable EV Charger, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Common Issues:

  • Charger not starting:
    • Ensure the power plug is fully inserted into the wall outlet.
    • Check if the wall outlet has power (test with another appliance).
    • Verify the J1772 connector is securely plugged into the vehicle's charging port.
    • Check the LED indicator for any fault codes (red blinking/solid red).
  • Slow charging:
    • Confirm you are using a NEMA 6-20 (240V) outlet for Level 2 charging. Using a NEMA 5-15 (120V) outlet will result in slower Level 1 charging.
    • Ensure your vehicle's charging settings are configured for maximum input.
  • LED indicator shows a fault (red light):
    • Red Blinking (General Fault): Disconnect the charger from both the wall and the vehicle, wait a few minutes, and then reconnect. If the fault persists, contact customer support.
    • Solid Red (Ground Fault): This indicates a grounding issue. Immediately disconnect the charger. Do not use the charger with this outlet. Consult an electrician to inspect the outlet's grounding.
  • Charger feels hot:
    • It is normal for the charger to feel warm during operation. However, if it feels excessively hot or emits a burning smell, immediately disconnect it and contact customer support.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact EVDANCE customer support for further assistance.
