5. Installation Guide
Professional installation is recommended. Ensure the vehicle's power is off before beginning installation.
- Sensor Placement:
- Determine the optimal positions for the four parking sensors on your vehicle's rear bumper. Refer to Figure 4 for recommended dimensions.
- Ensure sensors are evenly spaced and at a consistent height (typically 50-60cm from the ground).
- Drilling Holes:
- Use the included 22mm hole saw to drill holes at the marked positions on the bumper.
- Carefully remove any burrs or debris.
- Installing Sensors:
- Insert each sensor into its respective hole. Ensure they are flush with the bumper surface and facing outwards.
- Route the sensor cables to the inside of the vehicle, towards the location of the main control box.
- Mounting Control Box:
- Find a suitable, dry location inside the vehicle (e.g., in the trunk or under the dashboard) to mount the main control box using the double-sided stickers.
- Wiring Connections:
- Connect the sensor cables to the corresponding ports on the main control box (labeled A, B, C, D).
- Connect the power cable to the main control box. The red wire typically connects to the reverse light's positive (+) terminal (12V DC), and the black wire to ground (-).
- Connect the display cable to the designated port on the control box.
- Refer to Figure 5 for a detailed wiring diagram.
- Mounting Display:
- Mount the LED display in a visible location within the driver's cabin, such as on the dashboard, using the double-sided sticker.
6. Operation
Once installed and powered, the parking sensor system will automatically activate when you engage reverse gear. The LED display will show the distance to the nearest obstacle, and an audible alert will sound.
- Distance Display: The LCD screen will show the distance to obstacles in meters (M).
- Visual Indicators: The display includes visual segments that light up to indicate the direction of the obstacle (left, center, right).
- Audible Alerts: The system provides a series of beeps that increase in frequency as you get closer to an obstacle.
Audible Alert Pattern:
| Distance to Obstacle | Audible Alert |
|---|---|
| > 2.5m | No Beep |
| > 1.5m | No Beep |
| 1.1m ~ 1.5m | Be---Be--- |
| 0.8m ~ 1.0m | Be--Be-- |
| 0.6m ~ 0.7m | Be-Be-Be- |
| 0.4m ~ 0.5m | BeBeBe |
| < 0.4m | Be— (Continuous tone, indicating STOP) |
7. Maintenance
The Hippcron Car Parking Sensor Kit is designed for durability and minimal maintenance. The sensors are waterproof (IP68 rated) and dustproof, allowing them to function normally even in harsh climatic conditions and during car washes.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the sensors to ensure they are free from dirt, mud, snow, or ice, which could interfere with their detection capabilities. Use a soft cloth and mild detergent if necessary.
- Inspection: Regularly check the sensor connections and cables for any signs of wear or damage.
- Avoid Obstruction: Ensure no objects are blocking the sensors' field of view, as this can lead to inaccurate readings.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your parking sensor kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Display/No Sound:
- Check all power connections to the main control box and ensure the reverse gear is engaged.
- Verify the display cable is securely connected to the control box.
- Ensure the vehicle's battery voltage is within the operating range (10.5V - 16V DC).
- Inaccurate Readings/False Alarms:
- Clean the sensors to remove any dirt, mud, or debris.
- Ensure sensors are not obstructed by external objects (e.g., tow hitch, bicycle rack).
- Check sensor alignment; they should be flush with the bumper and facing outwards.
- Verify that the sensors are securely installed and not loose.
- Sensor Not Detecting:
- Inspect the wiring for the specific sensor that is not detecting. Ensure it is properly connected to the control box.
- Check for any physical damage to the sensor itself.
- Unidentified Blue Terminal:
- Some kits may include an additional blue terminal on the control box. If no corresponding cable is provided or specified in the diagram, it may be an unused auxiliary port. Consult the specific wiring diagram provided with your kit or contact support if unsure.
9. User Tips
- Sensor Color Customization: The sensors come in various colors (White, Gray, Black, Silver, Gold, Blue, Champagne Gold, Red). If the provided sensors do not exactly match your vehicle's body color, they can typically be painted to match. Use automotive-grade paint and apply thin coats to avoid affecting sensor performance.
- Test Before Finalizing: After installation but before fully reassembling your vehicle's interior, test the system thoroughly to ensure all sensors are working correctly and the display and audio alerts are functioning as expected.
