Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • When not in use for extended periods, remove the AA batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Handle cassette tapes carefully to prevent damage to the tape or the player's mechanism.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the device, as this will void any potential warranty and may cause damage.

Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check if batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted. If using USB power, ensure the cable is securely connected to a working USB port or power source.
  • No Sound during Playback: Ensure earphones are fully plugged into the 3.5mm jack. Check the volume level on the player (if applicable) and your earphones.
  • Computer Not Recognizing Device: Ensure the USB cable is properly connected. Try a different USB port on your computer. Restart your computer if necessary.
  • Recording Issues in Audacity: Verify that the cassette player is selected as the correct input device in Audacity's preferences. Check the recording volume levels in Audacity and on your computer.
  • Tape Not Playing/Moving: Ensure the cassette tape is inserted correctly and the compartment is fully closed. Check for any visible obstructions in the tape mechanism.

User Tips

  • For optimal MP3 conversion quality, ensure your cassette tapes are in good condition and play them back at a consistent volume.
  • When converting, it's often best to record a little extra at the beginning and end of the track, then use Audacity to trim precisely.
  • If you experience issues with the included Audacity software disc, search online for the latest version of Audacity, which is free and open-source.
