1. Introduction

The GTMEDIA V8X is an advanced HD Satellite Receiver designed to provide a rich and versatile viewing experience. It supports various digital video broadcasting standards including DVB-S/S2/S2X, VCM/ACM/multi-stream, and HEVC main 10 profile. With built-in 2.4G WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, it offers flexible options for network access and content streaming. This manual will guide you through the setup, operation, and maintenance of your V8X receiver.

4. Setup

4.1 Physical Connections

Before powering on your GTMEDIA V8X, ensure all necessary cables are connected correctly. Refer to the diagram below for port identification:

  • LNB IN: Connect your satellite dish cable here. This port supports DVB-S/S2/S2X signals.
  • HD OUT: Connect to your TV or display using an HDMI cable for Full HD 1080p video and audio output.
  • SCART: Connect to older TVs or displays using a SCART cable for video output.
  • AV OUT: Connect for analog video and audio output.
  • USB: Used for OTA updates, multimedia playback, and connecting a 3G USB dongle.
  • ETHERNET: Connect an Ethernet cable for wired internet access (10/100M Internet).
  • DC 12V: Connect the provided power adapter here.
  • POWER ON/OFF: Use this switch to turn the device on or off.
  • CA Card Slot: Insert your Conditional Access (CA) card here.

4.2 Initial Power-On

  1. Connect the power adapter to the DC 12V port and plug it into a power outlet.
  2. Switch the POWER button to the ON position. The front display will show 'boot' and then 'L021' as it starts up.
  3. Ensure your TV is set to the correct input source (HDMI or SCART) to see the receiver's interface.

4.3 Antenna Setup

To receive satellite channels, you need to configure your antenna settings:

  1. From the main menu, navigate to Installation.
  2. Select Antenna Setup.
  3. Choose your satellite from the Satellite List (e.g., Astra 1C, Eutelsat).
  4. Configure LNB Frequency, DiSEqC settings (1.0/1.1/1.2/USALS), and Motor Type as required for your setup.
  5. Perform a Single Satellite Search or Multi Satellite Search to find available channels.

4.4 Network Configuration

The GTMEDIA V8X supports both wired and wireless network connections:

  1. From the main menu, navigate to Network Config.
  2. For wired connection: Select LAN and ensure an Ethernet cable is connected.
  3. For wireless connection: Select WiFi Manager Setup. Choose your desired network from the list and enter the password.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Channel Search

After setting up your antenna, you can search for channels:

  • Go to Installation in the menu.
  • Select Single Satellite Search or Multi Satellite Search to scan for channels.

5.2 Channel Management

To organize your channels:

  • Navigate to TV Channel List from the main menu.
  • You can edit, delete, move, or rename channels. You can also create favorite lists.

5.3 Program Recording

The V8X allows you to record programs:

  • Go to System in the menu.
  • Select Timer Setting to schedule recordings.

5.4 GTShare (Multi-room Function)

The GTShare feature allows you to stream content from your V8X receiver to other devices within the same network:

  • Download the GTShare app on your mobile device (available on app stores).
  • Ensure both your V8X receiver and mobile device are connected to the same local network.
  • Use the app to browse channels and stream them to your mobile device.

5.5 CA Card Usage

If you have a Conditional Access (CA) card for encrypted channels:

  • Carefully insert the CA card into the designated slot on the receiver.
  • The receiver will automatically detect and authenticate the card, allowing access to subscribed channels.

5.6 Online Movie

The receiver supports online movie playback. Navigate to the 'Online Movie' option in the main menu to access this feature.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Firmware Upgrade

To ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features, it is recommended to keep your receiver's firmware updated:

  1. Download the latest firmware file from the official GTMEDIA website (www.freesat.cn) to a USB drive.
  2. Insert the USB drive into the USB port on the receiver.
  3. Navigate to Tools in the menu.
  4. Select USB Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

7. Troubleshooting

  • "No program!" message: This usually indicates that no channels have been found or are currently available. Verify your antenna connections and perform a channel search as described in Section 4.3.
  • BISS channels not decoding: The GTMEDIA V8X supports automatic BISS auto roll and full PowerVu/DRE & Biss key decoding. Ensure your firmware is up to date and the BISS keys are correctly configured if manual intervention is required (though typically automatic).
  • No network connection: Check your Ethernet cable connection or WiFi settings. Ensure the WiFi password is correct and the receiver is within range of your wireless router.
