4. Setup and Initial Use
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide or unclip the cover to open it.
- Insert AAA batteries according to the polarity indicators (+/-) inside the compartment. (Note: Batteries are not included with the product).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Power On/Off
- To Power On: Short press the ON/MEAS button. The display will light up.
- To Power Off: Long press the OFF/CLEAR button. The device will also automatically power off after a period of inactivity to save battery.
4.3 Setting Measurement Reference
The device can measure from its front edge or its rear edge. Long press the Addition/Measuring Reference button to switch between the front and rear reference points. An icon on the display will indicate the current reference point.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Basic Measurement (Distance)
- Single Measurement: Short press the ON/MEAS button. The laser will activate. Press it again to take a single measurement.
- Continuous Measurement: Long press the ON/MEAS button. The device will continuously measure and display the maximum and minimum distances, along with the current distance. Short press ON/MEAS again to stop continuous measurement.
5.2 Changing Units
Long press the Subtraction/Units button to cycle through available units: meters (m), feet (ft), and inches (in).
5.3 Advanced Measurement Modes
Press the Area/Volume/Pythagorean/Record/Mute button to cycle through the following modes:
- Area Measurement: Measure two sides (length and width) to calculate the area.
- Volume Measurement: Measure three sides (length, width, and height) to calculate the volume.
- Pythagorean Measurement (2-point): Measures the hypotenuse from two points to determine height or distance.
- Pythagorean Measurement (3-point I): Measures two sides and a hypotenuse to determine an unknown side.
- Pythagorean Measurement (3-point II): Measures three sides to determine an unknown side, often for complex height measurements.
5.4 Mute Function
To turn the device sound on or off, long press the Area/Volume/Pythagorean/Record/Mute button.

- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the lens is clean for accurate measurements.
