1. Introduction

The SinoGNSS R60, R550, and R50 Data Collectors are rugged, ergonomic, and high-performance devices designed for professional field surveying and data collection. These controllers offer advanced features to enhance efficiency and accuracy in various GNSS applications.

2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the data collector and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect the device for any signs of damage. Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present.

2.2 Charging the Battery

The data collector is equipped with a high-capacity Li-Polymer battery (9000mAh for R60). Before first use, fully charge the device using the provided USB-Type C cable and QC3.0 fast charger. A full charge typically takes no more than 5 hours.

2.3 Inserting SIM and TF Cards

Locate the SIM card slot and insert your 4G-enabled SIM card. For R550, dual SIM is supported. Insert a TF card (up to 128GB) into the designated slot for expanded storage if needed.

2.4 Powering On and Initial Configuration

Press and hold the power button until the device vibrates and the screen lights up. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your preferred language and complete the initial Android setup. The device supports multi-language switching.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Display and Navigation

The R60 features a 5.5-inch 1080P sunlight-readable color display, while the R550 has a 5-inch sunlight-readable touch display. Navigate the Android operating system (Android 12 for R60, Android 8.1 for R550) using the touchscreen or the physical QWERTY keyboard.

3.2 Connecting to RTK Receiver

The data collector supports Bluetooth 5.0 (R60) and NFC for quick and easy connection to your RTK receiver. Enable Bluetooth on both devices and pair them. For NFC-enabled receivers, simply tap the data collector to establish a connection.

3.3 Surveying Applications

The device comes pre-installed with surveying applications (e.g., Topo Survey, Mapping Survey, Detail Survey, Stake Point, Stake Line, Stake Arc, Stake CAD, Area Survey, Road Design, Road Stake, Road Store, Surface Stake). Launch the desired application from the home screen to begin your surveying tasks. The 4+64GB memory allows for opening CAD drawings in seconds.

3.4 Data Transfer

Connect the data collector to a computer using the USB-Type C cable for data transfer. The device also supports OTG functionality for connecting external USB devices.

3.5 Camera Usage (R550)

The R550 model features a 13 MP camera with autofocus, useful for documenting site conditions or capturing visual data during surveys.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

The data collector is IP67 rated for water and dust resistance. Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

4.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use. The operating temperature range is -20 °C to +65 °C, and storage temperature is -40 °C to +70 °C.

4.3 Software Updates

Regularly check for and install system and application updates to ensure optimal performance and security. Updates can typically be found in the device's settings menu.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Device Not Powering On

  • Ensure the battery is sufficiently charged. Connect the device to the charger and wait a few minutes before attempting to power on again.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 10-15 seconds to perform a forced restart.

5.2 Connectivity Issues (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/4G)

  • Verify that Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or 4G are enabled in the device settings.
  • Ensure the RTK receiver or other Bluetooth device is in pairing mode and within range.
  • Check SIM card insertion and network signal strength for 4G connectivity.
  • Restart the device and the peripheral device.

5.3 Slow Performance or App Crashes

  • Close unnecessary background applications.
  • Clear cache for problematic applications in the device settings.
  • Ensure sufficient storage space is available.
  • Perform a system update if available.
  • If issues persist, consider a factory reset (back up your data first).
