1. Product Introduction

The MDNG Smart Video Intercom System provides enhanced home security and communication. This system includes a 7-inch (or 10-inch, depending on model) IPS touch screen indoor monitor and a 1080P FHD outdoor doorbell camera. It supports remote access and control via the Tuya Smart / Smart Life mobile application, allowing you to monitor your home, communicate with visitors, and unlock doors from anywhere.

2. Setup Guide

2.1 System Components Overview

The system typically includes an indoor monitor, an outdoor doorbell unit, power adapter, and various connection cables. Please refer to the packing list image for included items.

2.2 Wiring the System

The MDNG Smart Video Intercom System supports connections for multiple indoor monitors, outdoor units, and CCTV cameras. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on the system.

2.2.1 Connecting Electric Locks

The system supports dual electric lock unlocking. Connect your electric control locks (e.g., electric bolt lock, electric strike lock) to the power supply unit and then to the indoor monitor as shown in the diagram. A door exit button can also be integrated.

2.2.2 Connecting AHD Cameras

The monitor supports up to two 1080P 2MP AHD cameras. For connection, use BNC male connectors into the BNC female connectors of the camera. Ensure the 2P connect wire is properly attached between the "+" and "-" of the BNC male connector and the CAM1 or CAM2 port on the monitor. If using a 1200TVL camera, set it to CVBS mode.

2.3 App Connection (Tuya Smart / Smart Life)

To connect your intercom system to the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app for remote control and monitoring, follow these steps:

  1. On the indoor monitor, navigate to the configuration settings and enable Wi-Fi.
  2. Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password.
  3. Once connected, the monitor will display a QR code under "Security" or "IP account" settings.
  4. Open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app on your smartphone.
  5. Select "Add Device" or scan the QR code displayed on the monitor using your phone's camera.
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts in the app to complete the device pairing. The process typically takes about 10 seconds.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Indoor Monitor Functions

The indoor monitor features an intuitive IPS touch screen for easy navigation and control.

  • Intercom: Initiate communication with other indoor monitors or the outdoor unit.
  • Monitoring: View live feed from the outdoor doorbell camera or connected CCTV cameras.
  • Unlocking: Remotely unlock connected electric doors.
  • Settings: Adjust display settings (color, brightness), volume, ringtones, and system language.
  • Memory: View stored photos and videos. The system supports an external SD card up to 128GB for extended storage.

3.2 Tuya Smart / Smart Life App Functions

The mobile app provides comprehensive control and monitoring features:

  • Remote Communication: Talk with visitors from anywhere, even when you are away from home.
  • Live View: Access live video streams from the doorbell and connected cameras.
  • Remote Unlock: Unlock electric doors directly from the app.
  • Notifications: Receive push notifications for motion detection events or doorbell calls.
  • Photo/Video Capture: Take photos or record videos directly from the app.
  • Playback: Review recorded videos and photos.

3.3 Operational Modes

The monitor offers three distinct modes to suit your home status:

  • At Home: Ringtone available.
  • Leave Home: Visitors receive a voice message to leave a message (requires SD card).
  • Sleep Home: For rest, sleep, no-disturb; no ringtone.

These modes can be set with a single button on the monitor.

3.4 Motion Detection and Recording

The system features intelligent motion detection. When motion is detected, it can trigger an alarm, capture snapshots, and record video. The monitor will automatically record video upon detection.

The system also supports a CCTV Anti-tamper Alarm, providing an additional layer of security by alerting you to tampering attempts on connected cameras.

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the monitor screen and outdoor unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check for firmware updates through the Tuya Smart / Smart Life app or the manufacturer's website to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • SD Card Management: Regularly back up important recordings from the SD card and format it to maintain recording efficiency.
  • Power Supply: Ensure the system is connected to a stable power supply (DC15V 1.2A).

5. Troubleshooting

  • Capacity: The system's capacity allows for connecting up to 2 doorbells, 4 indoor monitors, and 2 IP cameras. Plan your setup accordingly.
  • AHD Camera Resolution: When connecting AHD cameras, ensure they are 2MP 1080P. The system does not support 3MP or 5MP AHD cameras.
  • Power for Outdoor Camera: The outdoor camera is powered via the system, not by batteries.
