4.2 Motherboard Overview

4.3 Component Installation
- Install the CPU: Open the CPU socket retention lever (LGA115x socket, visible in Figure 4.1). Align the CPU with the socket, ensuring the notches match. Gently place the CPU into the socket without force. Close the retention lever to secure the CPU.
- Install the CPU Cooler: Apply thermal paste to the CPU (if not pre-applied on the cooler). Mount the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions, ensuring it is securely fastened to the mounting plate on the rear of the motherboard (visible in Figure 4.3). Connect the CPU fan cable to the designated header on the motherboard.
- Install RAM: Open the clips on the DDR4 memory slots (visible in Figure 4.1). Align the RAM modules with the slots, matching the notch on the module with the key in the slot. Press down firmly on both ends of the RAM module until the clips snap into place.
- Install M.2 SSD (Optional): If installing an M.2 SSD, locate the NGFFM1 slot (Figure 4.2). Insert the M.2 SSD at an angle into the slot, then gently push it down and secure it with the provided screw.
- Install Graphics Card (Optional): Open the retention clip on the PCIe x16 slot (visible in Figure 4.1). Insert the graphics card firmly into the slot until it clicks into place. Secure the card to the PC case with a screw.
- Mount Motherboard in Case: Install the I/O shield into the case's rear opening. Carefully align the motherboard with the standoffs in your PC case and secure it with screws.
- Connect Power Supply: Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector and the 8-pin (or 4-pin) CPU power connector from your power supply to the motherboard. Connect power to any installed graphics cards.
- Connect Front Panel Cables: Connect the power button, reset button, HDD LED, power LED, and front panel USB/audio cables to their respective headers on the motherboard. Refer to your PC case manual for specific pin assignments.
- Connect Peripherals: Connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals to the rear I/O ports (Figures 4.4 and 4.5).

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 First Boot
- After all components are installed and connected, connect the power cable to your PC and turn on the power supply.
- Press the power button on your PC case. The system should power on, and you should see a display on your monitor.
- If you are installing a new operating system, follow the on-screen prompts.
5.2 BIOS/UEFI Access
To access the BIOS/UEFI setup utility, press the designated key (usually DEL, F2, or F10) repeatedly during the initial boot sequence. This allows you to configure system settings, boot order, and monitor hardware status.
5.3 Driver Installation
After installing your operating system, install the necessary drivers for the motherboard's chipset, audio, LAN, and any other integrated components. These drivers are typically available on the Acer support website for the N50-610 model.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Regularly clean dust from inside your PC case, especially around the CPU cooler, RAM slots, and PCIe slots, using compressed air.
- Ensure the PC is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
6.2 BIOS Updates
Periodically check the Acer support website for BIOS/UEFI updates. Updating the BIOS can improve system stability, compatibility, and performance. Follow the instructions provided by Acer carefully when performing a BIOS update.
6.3 CMOS Battery
The motherboard includes a CMOS battery (visible in Figure 4.2) which powers the BIOS settings and real-time clock. If your system consistently loses time or BIOS settings, the CMOS battery may need replacement. Use a standard CR2032 coin cell battery for replacement.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 No Power
- Check all power connections: 24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU, and any graphics card power cables.
- Ensure the power supply switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Verify that the front panel power button cable is correctly connected to the motherboard header.
7.2 No Display
- Ensure your monitor is connected to the correct video output (either integrated graphics or a dedicated graphics card).
- Reseat the RAM modules. Incorrectly seated RAM is a common cause of no display.
- If using a dedicated graphics card, ensure it is properly seated in the PCIe slot and has adequate power.
7.3 Component Not Detected
- For RAM, ensure modules are fully seated in their slots. Try booting with one RAM stick at a time to identify a faulty module.
- For M.2 SSDs, ensure they are correctly installed and secured. Check BIOS settings to confirm the M.2 slot is enabled.
- For other peripherals, ensure they are connected to the correct ports and that their drivers are installed.
8. User Tips
- Always refer to the official Acer support documentation for your specific Nitro N50-610 model for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding compatible components and driver downloads.
- When upgrading components like RAM or storage, ensure they are compatible with the H470 chipset and DDR4 memory type supported by this motherboard.
- Keep your operating system and drivers updated to ensure optimal performance and security.
