- The device features an automatic shutdown function after 15 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. This function can typically be disabled if needed (refer to the full user manual for specific steps).
6.2. Non-Contact Measurement (TA500A, TA500C)
This method uses an infrared beam to measure rotational speed without physical contact.
- Ensure the target object has a reflective surface or apply the provided reflective tape (for TA500C) to the rotating part.
- Press the TEST button to activate the infrared beam.
- Aim the laser point perpendicularly at the rotating reflective strip.
- Maintain an effective distance between 50mm and 500mm from the target.
- The RPM reading will be displayed on the LCD screen.

6.3. Contact Measurement (TA500B, TA500C)
This method uses physical contact with the rotating object to measure speed.
- Attach the appropriate measuring accessory (e.g., cone or wheel) to the tachometer's contact shaft.
- Press the UNIT key to select the desired measurement mode (e.g., RPM, ft/m, m/min). The default mode is typically RPM.
- Press the TEST button. The measurement symbol (e.g., "RPM" or "ft/m") on the display screen will flash.
- Gently press the measuring accessory against the center of the rotating object.
- The speed reading will be displayed on the LCD screen.

6.4. Data Hold Function
To freeze the current measurement on the display:
- Press the HOLD button during measurement. The reading will be held.
- Press the HOLD button again to release the hold and resume live measurement.
6.5. Maximum/Minimum Value Measurement
To view the maximum or minimum recorded values during a measurement session:
- Press the MAX/MIN button once to display the maximum value.
- Press the MAX/MIN button again to display the minimum value.
- Press the MAX/MIN button a third time to return to live measurement.

7. Maintenance
7.1. Cleaning
- Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Keep the sensor area clean and free from dust or debris to ensure accurate readings.
7.2. Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the LCD screen shows low power, replace the batteries promptly to avoid interruption of operation or inaccurate readings. Refer to Section 5.1 for battery installation instructions.
7.3. Storage
- If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Store the tachometer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- The recommended storage environment is -10 to 50°C with a maximum 70% RH (battery removed).
8. Troubleshooting
- No display or weak display: Check battery level and replace if necessary. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
- Inaccurate readings (non-contact): Ensure the reflective tape is properly applied and clean. Verify the measurement distance is within 50-500mm. Ensure the laser is aimed perpendicularly at the target.
- Inaccurate readings (contact): Ensure the measuring accessory is securely attached and making firm contact with the rotating surface. Check for any wear or damage to the accessory.
- Device does not respond: Try turning the device off and on again. If the issue persists, replace the batteries.

10. User Tips
- For consistent non-contact measurements, ensure the reflective tape is applied smoothly and securely to the rotating surface.
- When performing contact measurements, apply gentle, consistent pressure to avoid slowing down the rotating object or causing slippage, which can affect accuracy.
- Always check the battery level before critical measurements to ensure uninterrupted operation.
- The auto power-off feature is useful for battery saving, but remember to disable it if you need continuous monitoring without interaction.
