5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your egg boiler.
- Unplug: Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wash Removable Parts: The lid, steaming bowl, steaming plate, steaming basket, and measuring cup can be washed with warm soapy water or placed in a dishwasher (if dishwasher-safe, refer to product markings). Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Clean Main Unit: Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the main unit in water.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up on the heating plate. To descale, add a mixture of water and white vinegar (1:1 ratio) to the heating plate. Let it sit for 15-30 minutes, then gently scrub with a non-abrasive sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Storage: Store the clean and dry appliance in a cool, dry place.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Appliance does not turn on | Not plugged in; Power outage; Faulty outlet | Check power cord connection; Verify power supply; Try a different outlet |
| Food not cooked properly | Insufficient water; Incorrect cooking time; Lid not sealed | Add more water; Adjust cooking time; Ensure lid is properly closed |
| Water dries out too quickly | Too little water added for cooking time | Use the measuring cup to add sufficient water for the desired cooking duration. The deepened heating plate helps prevent dry burning. |
| Limescale buildup on heating plate | Hard water deposits | Perform descaling as described in the Maintenance section. |

8. User Tips
- Piercing Eggs: For easier peeling and to prevent cracking, gently pierce the larger end of each egg with a pin before placing them on the steaming plate.
- Water Level for Doneness: Experiment with slightly varying water levels for eggs to achieve your preferred doneness (e.g., a little less water for softer yolks, more for harder yolks).
- Preheating: While not strictly necessary, allowing the water to heat for a minute or two before adding food can sometimes speed up cooking slightly.
- Versatile Steaming: Don't limit yourself to eggs! Use the steamer for small portions of vegetables, fish, or reheating leftovers for a healthy meal.
- Clean Immediately: Cleaning the heating plate and other components soon after use prevents food residue and mineral buildup from hardening, making cleaning easier.
