Setup Instructions

Before connecting any appliances, ensure the transformer is placed on a stable, flat surface with adequate ventilation.

Selecting Input Voltage

The Lvyuan VTUS-2000W can convert voltage in both directions (step-up and step-down). It is crucial to select the correct input voltage on the rear panel before connecting the transformer to a power source.

  1. Identify your local power supply voltage: Determine if your wall outlet provides 110V/120V or 220V/240V.
  2. Set the Input Voltage Selector: On the rear panel of the transformer, locate the red switch labeled "Input Voltage". Slide this switch to match your local power supply (e.g., if your wall outlet is 110V, set the switch to 110V).
  3. Verify Appliance Wattage: Ensure the total wattage of the appliance(s) you intend to connect does not exceed the transformer's 2000W rating. For safety, it is recommended to use a transformer with a max wattage at least 50% higher than your appliance's rated wattage. Some appliances (e.g., heating appliances, power tools, motors) may require 2-4 times more wattage at startup.

Operating Instructions

Converting 110V to 220V (Step-Up)

  1. Prepare Appliance: Ensure the appliance to be plugged in uses fewer watts than the transformer's rating.
  2. Select Input Voltage: Turn the voltage selector on the rear panel to "110V".
  3. Connect Transformer: Plug the transformer's power cord into a 110V wall outlet.
  4. Connect Appliance: Plug your 220V appliance into one of the 230V output sockets on the front panel.
  5. Power On: Flip the red POWER switch on the front panel to "ON". The power indicator light will illuminate. 220V will be available at the front panel outlets marked '230V'.

Converting 220V to 110V (Step-Down)

  1. Prepare Appliance: Ensure the appliance to be plugged in uses fewer watts than the transformer's rating.
  2. Select Input Voltage: Turn the voltage selector on the rear panel to "230V".
  3. Connect Transformer: Plug the transformer's power cord into a 220V wall outlet.
  4. Connect Appliance: Plug your 110V appliance into one of the 110V output sockets on the front panel.
  5. Power On: Flip the red POWER switch on the front panel to "ON". The power indicator light will illuminate. 110V will be available at the front panel outlets marked '110V'.

The transformer can be used with various appliances such as CPAP machines, electric toothbrushes, hair straighteners, laptops, mobile phones, curling irons, heating pads, televisions, and gaming consoles, provided their wattage is within the transformer's capacity.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

Over-Current Protection by Circuit Breaker

The Lvyuan VTUS-2000W is equipped with input miniature circuit breakers (MCB) for both 110V and 230V circuits. These MCBs provide protection against overcurrent and short circuits.

Figure 6: Internal components of the transformer, highlighting the toroidal coil and wiring for efficient operation.

Symptom: The transformer suddenly stops providing power, and the power indicator light is off, or an appliance connected to it stops working.

Possible Cause: An overcurrent or short circuit has occurred, causing one of the MCBs to trip off.

Solution:

  1. Disconnect Power: Immediately turn off the transformer using the front panel switch and unplug it from the wall outlet.
  2. Identify Overload: Disconnect all appliances from the transformer. Check if the total wattage of connected appliances exceeded the transformer's rating.
  3. Reset Circuit Breaker: Locate the tripped circuit breaker (either 110V or 230V) on the rear panel. It will typically be in the "OFF" or tripped position. Push the breaker back to the "ON" position.
  4. Reconnect and Test: Plug the transformer back into the wall outlet. Connect only one appliance at a time, ensuring its wattage is within limits. Turn on the transformer. If the breaker trips again, the appliance may be faulty or drawing too much power.

Unlike a fuse, which requires replacement after tripping, an MCB can be reset, making it safer and easier to use.
