7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KINHANK Super Console 500G Gaming HDD, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

7.1 Cannot Enter the Game System

Problem: The computer does not boot into the Batocera game system after connecting the hard drive.

Solution:

  1. Ensure the hard drive is connected to a USB 3.0 port on your PC or Mac.
  2. Access your computer's BIOS/UEFI settings (typically by tapping ESC or Delete repeatedly during startup for PC, or holding Option for Mac).
  3. In the BIOS/UEFI, navigate to the 'Security' or 'Boot' section and disable 'Secure Boot'.
  4. Set the portable hard drive as the primary boot option or select it from the boot override menu.
  5. Save changes and exit BIOS/UEFI to restart.

7.2 Some Games Cannot Be Opened

Problem: Certain games fail to launch or display errors.

Solution:

This issue often arises when a game is matched with an incorrect emulator core. Within the Batocera game menu:

  1. Highlight the problematic game.
  2. Press and hold the 'A' button (or equivalent action button on your controller).
  3. Select 'Advanced Game Settings'.
  4. Change the emulator core to a different option and try launching the game again.

7.3 Slow Game Performance

Problem: Games, especially 3D titles like PS2, run slowly or experience lag.

Solution:

The smoothness of game performance is directly related to your computer's hardware configuration. For optimal performance, especially with more demanding 3D games, ensure your computer meets or exceeds the recommended specifications for the emulated system. A more powerful CPU, sufficient RAM, and a dedicated graphics card will significantly improve gameplay.

7.4 Compatibility Issues

Problem: The hard drive does not work with certain devices.

Solution:

  • The KINHANK Super Console HDD is designed for X86 architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) PCs and Macs. It is not compatible with ARM-based devices (e.g., Windows Surface series, Mac with M1/M2 CPU, Raspberry Pi, Android TV boxes).
  • Ensure your computer's operating system is Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10/11 or Mac OS 10.2 and above.

8. User Tips

  • Always use a wired or 2.4G wireless keyboard for BIOS entry, as Bluetooth keyboards may not be recognized during the boot process.
  • For the best gaming experience, especially with 3D games, ensure your computer has adequate processing power and RAM.
  • Regularly check for Batocera system updates to benefit from performance improvements and new features.
  • When adding new games, organize them into the correct emulator folders within the 'roms' directory for proper detection.
