1. Introduction

The MEKEDE MN-X Series Android Multimedia Player is an advanced head unit designed to upgrade the in-car entertainment and navigation experience for compatible BMW X5 E70 and X6 E71/E72 models. It integrates a powerful Android 14 system with original car functionalities, offering features like Car-Play, Android Auto, GPS navigation, and multimedia playback.

1.1. Vehicle Compatibility

  • BMW X5 E70: 2007-2010 (CCC system), 2011-2013 (CIC system)
  • BMW X6 E71/E72: 2007-2010 (CCC system), 2011-2014 (CIC system)

Important: Please verify your car's original system (CCC, CIC, NBT, or EVO) before installation to ensure proper compatibility.

3. Installation Guide

The MEKEDE MN-X Series multimedia player is designed for a plug-and-play installation. However, professional installation is recommended to ensure correct wiring and functionality.

3.1. System Compatibility Check

Before installation, confirm your vehicle's original system type (CCC, CIC, NBT, EVO) using the visual guide below:

3.2. Retained Original Functions

The MEKEDE MN-X player is designed to retain the following original car functions:

  • Original radio system
  • Original CD function
  • Steering wheel control
  • Original reversing image
  • i-Drive control

3.3. Wiring and Connections

Follow the wiring instructions carefully. Pay special attention to the audio output connection.

Note on Audio Output:

This unit outputs sound through AUX. Please confirm that your car has an AUX function before ordering. If there is no AUX on your car, you may need to purchase an FM transmitter to produce audio. The sound quality may not be as good as AUX. Please acknowledge this issue before placing the order.

3.4. Rear View Camera Wiring (Optional)

If installing an optional rear view camera, refer to the diagram for proper connection. If using an original camera, ensure the camera type is set to 'Original back car' in the settings.

4. Initial Setup

4.1. Wi-Fi Connection

To connect to Wi-Fi:

  1. Go to 'Settings'.
  2. Select 'Network & internet'.
  3. Turn on Wi-Fi and select your desired network.
  4. Enter the password if prompted.

4.2. Language Settings

To change the system language:

  1. Go to 'Settings'.
  2. Select 'System'.
  3. Choose 'Languages & input'.
  4. Add or select your preferred language.

4.3. Display Resolution Adjustment

If the OEM menu displays incorrectly (e.g., distorted or flashing), you may need to adjust the resolution:

  1. Check the LVDS connector for a secure connection.
  2. Go to 'Settings'.
  3. Select 'Personalized Setting'.
  4. Adjust the 'Resolution ratio' to match your original menu's resolution.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. User Interface (UI)

The main menu provides quick access to various functions. You can customize the UI style to your preference.

5.2. CarPlay and Android Auto

The unit supports both wireless CarPlay (for iOS devices) and wired Android Auto (for Android devices).

  • Wireless CarPlay (iOS): Connect via Bluetooth, then click 'Phone Link' and wait for connection. Can also be connected via USB cable.
  • Wired Android Auto (Android): Connect your mobile phone to the car DVD player with a USB cable, then click 'Phone Link' and wait for connection.

5.3. Bluetooth Functionality

The built-in smart Bluetooth system allows for mobile phone BT pairing, hands-free dialing, steering wheel button control, and synchronous contact access.

5.4. GPS Navigation & Split Screen

The unit features a built-in global positioning system for omni-directional map display and real-time traffic conditions. It supports popular navigation apps like Navitel, iGO, Yandex, and Google Maps. The split-screen function allows two applications to be displayed simultaneously.

5.5. Digital Sound Processor (DSP)

The built-in DSP chip (available on all models except 2+64G) supports 32 equalizer adjustments, providing enhanced control over audio frequencies for a customized sound experience.

5.6. Car Information Display

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your multimedia player, follow these general maintenance tips:

  • Regularly clean the screen with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1. No Sound Output

If you experience no sound from the unit:

  1. Ensure the original car's fiber optic cable is correctly connected to the conversion line interface.
  2. Verify that the 'AUX' input is selected on your original car system and switch the mode to 'AUX'.
  3. If your car lacks an AUX IN port, an FM transmitter can be used as an alternative, though sound quality may be reduced.

8.2. Display Resolution Issues / OEM Menu Symptoms

If the OEM menu shows symptoms like flickering or incorrect display:

  1. Check the LVDS connector for a secure and proper connection.
  2. Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Personalized Setting' > 'Resolution ratio' and adjust the setting to match your original car's display resolution.

8.3. iDrive Knob Control Errors (CCC System)

For cars with a CCC system, the metal iDrive knob may experience some control errors when rotating it in the Android menu. However, you can correctly control the Android menu by touching the screen. CIC, NBT, and EVO systems should control normally.

  • Sound Quality: For the best audio experience, ensure your car has an AUX input. If not, an FM transmitter can be used, but be aware that sound quality may be compromised.
  • iDrive Control (CCC Systems): If you have a CCC system and experience issues with the iDrive knob in the Android menu, utilize the touchscreen for navigation and control.
