1. Introduction

The Aigo A18 is a versatile 22-key numeric mechanical keyboard designed for efficiency and comfort. It features dual-mode connectivity (wired and 2.4G wireless), PBT dual-color keycaps, and full key hot-swappable switches, making it suitable for various professional and personal applications, especially for accounting and finance tasks requiring frequent digital input.

2. Setup and Connection

2.1 Wired Connection

  1. Locate the USB Type-C port on the keyboard.
  2. Insert the Type-C end of the provided cable into the keyboard's port.
  3. Connect the USB-A end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer.
  4. The keyboard will be automatically recognized and ready for use. The Return key light will illuminate to indicate wired mode.

2.2 2.4G Wireless Connection

  1. Locate the USB receiver, typically stored magnetically on the underside of the keyboard.
  2. Insert the USB receiver into an available USB port on your PC or laptop.
  3. Toggle the power switch on the keyboard to the "ON" position.
  4. Press and hold the FN + INS keys simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds to initiate pairing. The INS key light will illuminate to indicate a successful 2.4G wireless connection.

Note: When the keyboard is connected via wired mode, the 2.4G wireless function is automatically disabled. Unplugging the USB cable will automatically switch the keyboard to 2.4G wireless mode if a receiver is paired.

2.3 Charging

The keyboard features a built-in 600mAh lithium battery. To charge, connect the keyboard to a power source using the provided USB Type-C cable. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours and provides about 45 days of usage.

3. Operation

3.1 Indicator Lights

  • Wired Mode: The Return key light is illuminated.
  • 2.4G Wireless Mode: The INS key light is illuminated.

These indicator lights provide quick visual feedback on the keyboard's current connection status.

3.2 Anti-Ghosting

The Aigo A18 features full key anti-ghosting, ensuring that all key presses are registered accurately, even during rapid or simultaneous key inputs. This is particularly beneficial for fast data entry and complex calculations.

3.3 Calculator Function

The numeric keypad can be used as a quick calculator, enhancing convenience for users who frequently perform calculations.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To clean your keyboard, gently wipe the keycaps and surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. For deeper cleaning, you may carefully remove keycaps.

4.2 Keycap and Switch Replacement

The Aigo A18 features durable PBT dual-color keycaps and a full key hot-swappable design, allowing for easy replacement of switches without soldering. This supports both 3-pin and 5-pin shaft bodies.

  1. Use a keycap puller to gently remove the desired keycap.
  2. Use a switch puller to carefully extract the mechanical switch from its socket.
  3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press firmly until it clicks into place.
  4. Replace the keycap.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not responding in wired mode: Ensure the Type-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer. Try a different USB port or cable.
  • Keyboard not responding in 2.4G wireless mode:
    • Verify the USB receiver is properly inserted into your computer.
    • Ensure the keyboard's power switch is in the "ON" position.
    • Confirm the keyboard is charged.
    • Re-pair the keyboard by holding FN + INS for 3 seconds.
    • If wired mode is active (cable connected), 2.4G wireless will be disabled. Unplug the cable to switch to wireless.
  • Keys not registering or double-typing: This could indicate a faulty switch. Utilize the hot-swappable feature to replace the affected switch.
  • Indicator light not working: Check the connection mode (wired/2.4G wireless) and ensure the corresponding key (Return for wired, INS for 2.4G) should be lit. If not, try reconnecting or charging the keyboard.
