2. Installation and Setup

Before installation, ensure all power is disconnected from the host machine. The coin acceptor should be securely mounted in a suitable location within your vending or arcade machine, allowing for easy access to the coin slot and return path.

2.1 Wiring Connections

The coin acceptor uses a 4-pin socket for power and signal output. Refer to the table below for pin assignments:

2.2 Setting Coin Samples (Calibration)

The coin acceptor needs to be calibrated with sample coins for each currency type it will accept. The device can be set up for up to five different coin types.

  1. Accessing Settings: Press the ADD key (10) and MINUS key (11) on the display panel simultaneously for approximately 2 seconds. The letter 'E' will appear on the display, indicating you are in the currency system selection mode.
  2. Choosing Currency Value (E): Use the ADD/MINUS keys to select the desired currency value (1-6). This corresponds to the number of different coin types you wish to program.
  3. Setting Sampling Quantity (H): After selecting 'E', press the setting key (8). The letter 'H' will appear. Use ADD/MINUS to set the quantity of sample coins (1-20 pieces) for the current coin type. A value of 20 is recommended for optimal accuracy.
  4. Setting Signal Output Value (F): After setting 'H', press the setting key (8) again. The letter 'F' will appear. Use ADD/MINUS to set the numerical value for the signal output (1-50). This determines the number of pulses generated per coin.
  5. Setting Precision (P): After setting 'F', press the setting key (8) again. The letter 'P' will appear. Use ADD/MINUS to set the precision (1-20). A smaller number indicates higher accuracy. The suggested number is 8.
  6. Confirming Settings: After setting 'P', press the setting key (8) to confirm. The display will return to 'E'. Repeat steps 2-5 for each coin type you wish to program.
  7. Sampling Coins:
    • First Coin Type: Press the setting key (8). The letter 'A' will appear. Press the setting key (8) again, and 'A1' will be displayed with the LED light on. Insert 20 sample coins of the first type at a constant velocity. The device will register these as H1=20.
    • Second Coin Type: After the first type is sampled, the LED lights will flicker, and 'A2' will appear with the first two LED lights on. Insert 20 sample coins of the second type at a constant velocity. The device will register these as H2=20.
    • Third Coin Type: Similarly, 'A3' will appear with the first three LED lights on. Insert 20 sample coins of the third type at a constant velocity. The device will register these as H3=20.
  8. Completion: After all desired coin types have been sampled, the LED lights will flicker several times, indicating that the setup is complete and the unit is ready for normal operation.

2.3 Signal Width Adjustment

The 2-section switch allows adjustment of the coin signal pulse width:

  • 20ms (fast): For quick coin acceptance.
  • 50ms (medium): Standard setting.
  • 70ms (slow): For systems requiring a longer pulse.

2.4 Forbidden Energy Inputting

The 3-section switch controls the signal of forbidden energy inputting:

  • UP PIN: Signal inputting is enabled (voltage > 4V is OK).
  • 0V: Signal inputting is forbidden.
  • Down PIN: Ground wire.

3. Operating Instructions

Once the coin acceptor is installed and calibrated, it is ready for operation. Simply insert the programmed coins into the coin slot. The device will automatically detect and validate the coins, sending the appropriate signal to the host machine.

  • Ensure coins are inserted smoothly and at a constant velocity for optimal recognition.
  • If a coin is rejected, it will be returned through the coin return mouth.
  • The display will show the status or numerical value during operation and setup.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your coin acceptor.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the coin slot and internal pathways to prevent coin jams and ensure accurate detection. Use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Check all wiring connections regularly to ensure they are secure and free from damage.
  • Dust Removal: Keep the internal components free from dust and debris, especially around sensors and moving parts.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your coin acceptor, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
