7. Operation

7.1. Modbus Communication

The N4CID08 module communicates using the standard Modbus RTU protocol. You can use Modbus Poll software or similar tools to interact with the module. The module supports function codes 06/16 for writing and 03/04 for reading data.

Refer to the official user manual PDF for detailed Modbus register addresses and commands:

7.3. Factory Reset

To perform a factory reset, short the RES jumper for 5 seconds. This will restore the module to its default settings, including the default baud rate of 9600BPS.

8. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your N4CID08 module:

  • Store the module in a dry place when not in use.
  • Keep it away from children unless supervised by an adult.
  • Avoid exposing the module to water or excessive moisture.
  • Handle with care to prevent physical damage.
  • Regularly check connections for secure fit and absence of corrosion.

9. Troubleshooting

9.1. Current Reading Deviation

If the current reading deviation is greater than 3%, this value can be corrected. The Modbus register allows for adjustment:

  • A value of 1000 means a 1:1 increase (no change).
  • A value of 1010 means a 1% increase.
  • A value of 990 means a 1% decrease.

Adjust this register value as needed to calibrate the current readings.

9.2. Communication Issues

  • Check Baud Rate: Ensure the baud rate set in your Modbus master matches the module's baud rate. The default is 9600BPS.
  • Verify Wiring: Double-check all power and RS485 connections (A+, B-, GND) for correctness and secure contact.
  • RS485 Termination: For longer RS485 bus lengths or noisy environments, ensure proper termination resistors are used.
  • Power Supply: Confirm the module is receiving the correct voltage (DC5V or DC 7-24V) and sufficient current.
  • Factory Reset: If communication issues persist, try performing a factory reset as described in Section 7.3.

10. User Tips

  • When embedding the N4CID08 into a custom base board, ensure adequate clearance for the pin headers if using the 'with pin' version.
  • For applications requiring precise current measurements, utilize the deviation correction feature to fine-tune accuracy.
  • Consider the 'only board' version for space-constrained applications where direct soldering or custom connectors are preferred over pin headers.

11. Safety & Warnings
