This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your JOYING Car Radio Stereo Head Unit with an automatic rotatable screen.

1. Introduction

The JOYING Universal Android 13 Car Radio Stereo Head Unit is a state-of-the-art multimedia system designed to enhance your in-car entertainment and navigation experience. Featuring a high-resolution display available in multiple sizes (10.1", 11.6", 13.3", 15.1"), it runs on Android 13 and offers advanced functionalities like automatic screen rotation, built-in CarPlay and Android Auto, powerful sound processing, and extensive connectivity options.

2. Setup and Installation

2.1. Package Contents

Before beginning installation, please verify that all items listed below are present in your package:

Note: Only the screen size you purchased is included in the package. The factory radio-mounting bracket and its screws are not included.

2.2. Dimensions

Chassis dimensions: 178mm (width) x 110mm (depth) x 86mm (height).

2.3. Installation Steps

Please refer to the included Installation Manual for detailed diagrams and instructions. A PDF version of the user manual is available for download at: User Manual (PDF).

  1. Assemble Brackets to Double Din Cage:

    Attach the left & right brackets to the double din cage using 8 supplied M4x4x7 screws (4 on top, 4 on bottom). The fixing position of the brackets can be extended or telescoped to achieve the best fit for your car's center console.

  2. Fasten Factory Radio-Mounting Bracket:

    Secure your vehicle's factory radio-mounting bracket to the JOYING left & right brackets using factory mounting screws (M5x6 MAX). Ensure the screw holes of the double din cage align with your factory bracket, and tighten screws at a minimum of two locations on each side.

  3. Secure Reinforced Shims to Chassis:

    Attach the reinforced shims to the chassis using 2 supplied M4x4x7 screws. Before this step, ensure you have correctly set up the KEY/CAN, TF CARD, and SIM CARD as per the Basic Product Operation instructions.

  4. Insert and Secure Chassis:

    Slide the chassis into the double din cage and secure it in place with 2 supplied M4x4x7 screws at the front and bottom.

  5. Connect Display Cable and Mount Screen:

    Connect the display cable. Align the four plastic clips from the screen with the holes on the main unit. Gently push the outer part of the screen until all four clips are securely in place. The position of these clips can be adjusted to move the screen up or down as needed for installation.

2.4. Wiring Diagram

The following diagram illustrates the various input and output ports on the chassis. Ensure all connections are made correctly according to your vehicle's wiring and the accessories you are installing.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Basic Operation and User Interface

Your JOYING head unit runs on Android 13, providing a familiar and intuitive user interface. Navigate through apps and settings using the touchscreen. The main screen typically displays quick access to navigation, music, radio, Bluetooth, video, and other frequently used applications.

3.2. Automatic Rotatable Screen

The head unit features an automatic rotatable screen, allowing you to switch between portrait and landscape orientations. This is particularly useful for different types of content, such as video playback (landscape) or navigation (portrait).

3.3. Multimedia and Connectivity

  • High-Quality Sound: Equipped with a TDA7851 DSP chip, 48-band graphic equalizer, and 4x50W max output power for superior audio. Supports aftermarket amplifiers with 4 audio outputs, 1 SUB output, Fiber Optical Output, SPDIF Coaxial Output, and Center Channel Output.

  • CarPlay & Android Auto: Connect your mobile phone via USB cable or Bluetooth to access apps, navigation, calls, and music on the larger screen. Note: When switching to vertical screen mode, you may need to reconnect CarPlay or Android Auto.

  • Split-screen Multitasking: Run two applications simultaneously on the screen. Tap the recent apps icon, find the app to run in split-screen, click its split-screen button, then select a second app.

3.6. Steering Wheel Control

The unit supports steering wheel control, allowing you to easily switch songs, radio channels, and adjust volume for a safer and more enjoyable journey. Note: If your car has a CAN system, you may need to purchase an extra Can-Bus cable to enable this feature.

3.7. Optional Accessories

Enhance your driving experience with these optional accessories (not included in the package):

  • OBD2: Connects via Bluetooth to retrieve real-time data and trouble codes from your vehicle computer.
  • TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System): Monitors and displays tire pressure for safer driving.
  • AR Front Camera: Records the front road automatically while driving.
  • AR Rear Camera: Switches to reverse display automatically when reversing the car.

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for software updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features. Updates can usually be found in the system settings or on the manufacturer's website.
  • Cooling System: The unit features a dual heat sink design for superior heat dissipation. Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. The system includes fan control that activates automatically if the CPU temperature or radio volume exceeds a set warning value.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check all power connections and the fuse. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is on.
  • No Sound: Verify speaker connections, volume levels, and audio source selection. Check if the mute function is active.
  • Screen Not Responding: Try restarting the unit. If the issue persists, use the RST (Reset) button on the chassis.
  • CarPlay/Android Auto Disconnects in Vertical Mode: If CarPlay or Android Auto disconnects when switching to vertical screen mode, simply reconnect your phone to re-establish the connection.
  • GPS Signal Issues: Ensure the GPS antenna is properly installed and has a clear view of the sky.
  • WiFi Connectivity Problems: Check the WiFi antenna connection and ensure you are within range of a known network.

  • Vehicle Compatibility: This is a universal head unit. However, for specific vehicle models like GMC Terrain 2016 or Kia Cadenza, it is recommended to consult with a professional installer or the manufacturer to ensure full compatibility and necessary adapters.
  • Screen Orientation: Utilize the automatic screen rotation feature to optimize your viewing experience for different tasks, such as landscape for videos and portrait for navigation.
  • CarPlay/Android Auto Reconnection: If you experience a brief disconnection of CarPlay or Android Auto when rotating the screen, simply reconnect your device.
  • Customization: Explore the personalized settings to set your preferred car boot logo, wallpapers, button colors, and screen brightness for a tailored user experience.

8. Warranty and Support

All JOYING head units are tested thoroughly before shipping and come with a 24-month Manufacturer Warranty. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper installation, accidents, misuse, abuse, incorrect wiring, or operating the unit with incorrect voltage against the instructions in this manual.
