6. Setup and Operation
6.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the meter is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the meter.
- Open the compartment cover.
- Insert 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries, observing correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
6.2 Basic Operation
- Power On/Off: Turn the knob switch from OFF to any desired measurement function to power on the meter. Turn it back to OFF to power off.
- Function Selection: Rotate the knob switch to select the main measurement function (e.g., V~ for AC Voltage, V- for DC Voltage, A~ for AC Current, Ω for Resistance).
- Sub-Function Selection: For functions with multiple modes (e.g., Resistance, Diode, Continuity), press the 'FUNC' button to cycle through them.
- Data Hold: Press the 'HOLD' button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
- MAX/MIN: Press the 'MAX/MIN' button to record and display the maximum or minimum value during a measurement session. Press again to cycle.
- Backlight/Flashlight: Press the '★' button to turn on/off the display backlight and the integrated flashlight.
6.3 Specific Measurement Functions
6.3.1 AC Current Measurement (Clamp)
- Rotate the knob switch to the 'A~' position.
- Press the trigger to open the clamp jaws.
- Enclose a single conductor (not a power cord with multiple wires) within the clamp jaws.
- Release the trigger to close the jaws securely around the conductor.
- Read the AC current value on the display.
6.3.2 Resistance Measurement
- Rotate the knob switch to the 'Ω' position.
- Insert the red test lead into the 'VΩHz' input jack and the black test lead into the 'COM' input jack.
- Connect the test probes across the component to be measured.
- Read the resistance value on the display.

6.3.3 Temperature Measurement (HT207B/D Only)
WARNING: When measuring temperature with a thermocouple, the probe of the thermocouple should not come into contact with charged objects, otherwise it may damage the instrument or cause electric shock/personal injury.
- Rotate the knob switch to the '°C/°F' position.
- Insert the temperature probe into the input jacks, observing polarity.
- Place the tip of the temperature probe on or in the object/environment to be measured.
- Read the temperature value on the display.
6.3.4 Non-Contact AC Voltage (NCV) Detection
- Rotate the knob switch to the 'NCV' position or press the 'NCV' button if available on your model.
- Bring the NCV probe (top part of the clamp meter) close to the AC voltage source.
- The meter will indicate the presence of AC voltage:
- Weak signal: Displays "---L" and emits a slow beep.
- Strong signal: Displays "---H", the orange backlight lights up, and it emits a rapid beep.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the meter with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the input terminals free from dirt and moisture.
7.2 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries immediately to ensure accurate measurements. Refer to section 6.1 for battery installation instructions.
7.3 Storage
If the meter is not to be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage. Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The recommended storage environment is -10~60°C (<70% RH).
8. Troubleshooting
If the meter does not function correctly, check the following:
- No display or faint display: Check battery installation and replace batteries if necessary.
- "OL" displayed: The measured value exceeds the selected range. Select a higher range or ensure the measurement is within the meter's capabilities.
- Incorrect readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected, the correct function is selected, and the measurement technique is appropriate for the parameter being measured.
- Meter does not respond: Turn the meter off and then on again. If the issue persists, remove batteries for a few minutes and reinsert.
