Watch Components and Buttons

Your SMAEL 8053 watch features four main buttons and a crown for various functions:
- LIGHT (A button): Activates the EL backlight.
- MODE (B button): Cycles through different operational modes.
- RESET (C button): Used for resetting, selecting, or advancing settings.
- START/STOP (D button): Used for starting/stopping functions or changing values.
- Crown: Used for setting analog time.

Mode Navigation
Press the MODE (B) button to cycle through the following modes:
- Normal Time Display Mode
- Chronograph (Stopwatch) Mode
- Alarm Mode
- Time Setting Mode
EL Backlight
In any mode, press the LIGHT (A) button to activate the EL backlight for approximately 3 seconds. This allows for convenient reading in low-light conditions.

Chronograph (Stopwatch) Mode
- From Normal Time Display Mode, press MODE (B) once to enter Chronograph Mode. The display will show '00:00:00'.
- Press START/STOP (D) to start the stopwatch.
- Press START/STOP (D) again to stop the stopwatch.
- While the stopwatch is running, press RESET (C) to perform a split time (hold on). The stopwatch continues to run in the background. Press RESET (C) again to return to the running stopwatch display.
- When the stopwatch is stopped, press RESET (C) to reset it to '00:00:00'.
- To exit Chronograph Mode, press MODE (B).
Alarm Mode
- From Normal Time Display Mode, press MODE (B) twice to enter Alarm Mode.
- Press RESET (C) to select the alarm hour. The hour digits will flash.
- Press START/STOP (D) to adjust the alarm hour. Pay attention to AM/PM if in 12-hour format.
- Press RESET (C) again to select the alarm minute. The minute digits will flash.
- Press START/STOP (D) to adjust the alarm minute.
- To exit Alarm Setting Mode, press MODE (B).
Alarm and Chime ON/OFF Setting
- In Normal Time Display Mode, press MODE (B) twice to enter Alarm Mode.
- Press START/STOP (D) to toggle the Alarm (ALM) and Hourly Chime (SIG) functions ON or OFF.
- If the 'AL' symbol appears, the alarm is ON. If the 'SIG' symbol appears, the hourly chime is ON. If both appear, both are ON. If neither appears, both are OFF.
Time and Date Setting Mode
- From Normal Time Display Mode, press MODE (B) three times to enter Time and Date Setting Mode. The seconds digits will flash.
- Press START/STOP (D) to zero the seconds.
- Press RESET (C) to select the hour. The hour digits will flash.
- Press START/STOP (D) to adjust the hour. Repeatedly pressing START/STOP (D) will also cycle between 12-hour and 24-hour formats.
- Press RESET (C) to select the minute. The minute digits will flash.
- Press START/STOP (D) to adjust the minute.
- Press RESET (C) to select the month. The month digits will flash.
- Press START/STOP (D) to adjust the month.
- Press RESET (C) to select the date. The date digits will flash.
- Press START/STOP (D) to adjust the date.
- Press RESET (C) to select the day of the week. The day of the week will flash.
- Press START/STOP (D) to adjust the day of the week.
- To exit Time and Date Setting Mode and return to Normal Time Display Mode, press MODE (B).
Setting Analog Time
Pull out the crown located on the right side of the watch. Rotate the crown to adjust the analog hour and minute hands to the correct time. Once set, push the crown back in to secure the time.
Maintenance
- Water Resistance: The watch is 50M water resistant, suitable for washing hands, washing face, rain, swimming. However, do NOT press any buttons while the watch is wet or submerged in water. Avoid hot water or steam, as this can compromise the water resistance seals.
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and band with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution and rinse thoroughly, then dry.
- Battery: The watch includes a battery. If the display dims or functions become erratic, the battery may need replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a professional watch repair service to ensure water resistance is maintained.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the watch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
- Watch not displaying time/functions: Check if the battery needs replacement.
- Digital display is dim: Battery may be low.
- Water inside the watch: Immediately take the watch to a professional for inspection and repair to prevent further damage.
- Buttons not responding: Ensure the watch is dry. If the issue persists, contact support.
