5. Operating Instructions

Once the adapter is connected to your PC with the M.2 module and SIM card installed, your operating system should detect the new hardware.

  • Driver Installation: Your operating system may automatically install necessary drivers. If not, you may need to download and install drivers for your specific M.2 4G/5G module from its manufacturer's website.
  • LED Indicators:
    • USB PWR LED: Indicates power supply via USB.
    • TYPE C PWR LED: Indicates power supply via Type C port.
    • WAN LED: Indicates network activity.
    • 3.3V LED: Indicates 3.3V power supply to the module.
  • Fan Control: The integrated cooler fan has an independent ON/OFF switch. Turn it ON for active cooling, especially during prolonged use or high data transfer rates, to maintain optimal module temperature.
  • Reset Switch: A reset button is available to restart the adapter if needed.
  • Network Configuration: After successful driver installation, configure your cellular network settings through your operating system's network control panel. This typically involves setting up an APN (Access Point Name) provided by your mobile network operator.

6. User Tips

  • Not a Router: This device is an adapter, not a standalone 5G network cell router. It enables your computer to use a 5G module for internet access, similar to an external modem. Your computer will then manage the connection.
  • Module and SIM Required: Always remember that both a compatible 3G/4G/5G M.2 module and an active SIM card are essential for the adapter to function as intended.
  • Check Module Compatibility: Before purchasing an M.2 module, ensure it is compatible with the adapter (e.g., Quectel RM500Q/RM500U, Gosuncn GM800, Sierra SIM8200, and M.2 Key B 3042/3052 dimensions).
  • Proper SIM Size: Use a standard SIM card. If you have a MicroSIM or Nano SIM, you will need a suitable adapter to fit it into the standard SIM slot.
