1. Product Overview

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Battery Installation

The BT-TH05 sensor comes with a pre-installed CR2032 battery. If replacement is needed, gently open the battery compartment on the back of the device and insert a new CR2032 battery, ensuring correct polarity.

3.2 App Installation

  1. Download the 'Tuya Smart' or 'Smart Life' app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Register or log in to your account.

3.3 Device Pairing (Bluetooth)

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  2. Open the 'Tuya Smart' or 'Smart Life' app.
  3. Tap '+' or 'Add Device'. The app should automatically discover the 'Temp & Humidity Sensor'.
  4. Select the device and follow the on-screen prompts to complete pairing.

3.4 Connecting to a Bluetooth Gateway (Optional for Remote Access)

For remote monitoring, scene association, and third-party voice control, a Tuya Bluetooth gateway is required. If you have a gateway:

  1. Ensure your Bluetooth gateway is set up and connected to the app.
  2. In the app, navigate to your Bluetooth gateway device.
  3. Look for an option to 'Add sub-device' or 'Associate Bluetooth devices'.
  4. Select the 'Temp & Humidity Sensor' from the list of discovered devices and confirm to add it to the gateway.

3.5 Placement Options

The sensor is designed for versatile placement. It can be:

  • Placed on a flat surface (e.g., table, shelf).
  • Attached to a wall using adhesive.
  • Hung on a hook or door handle.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Display Information

The 40mm LCD screen displays the current temperature and humidity. It also features an intuitive comfort indicator:

  • Smiling face (^_^): Indicates comfortable conditions (18°C-28°C / 64.4°F-82.4°F and 40%RH-65%RH).
  • Frowning face (-_-): Indicates uncomfortable conditions (outside the comfortable range).

4.2 Temperature Unit Switch

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), simply press the reset button on the device once. The unit will update on both the screen and in the app.

4.3 App Monitoring and History Records

  • Local Monitoring: When within Bluetooth range, you can view real-time temperature and humidity data directly in the 'Tuya Smart' or 'Smart Life' app.
  • Remote Monitoring: If connected to a Tuya Bluetooth gateway, you can monitor the sensor's data from anywhere with an internet connection.
  • History Records: The app records temperature and humidity history, displaying it graphically. You can also export this data to your email address.

4.4 Temperature and Humidity Alarms

You can set custom upper and lower limits for both temperature and humidity within the app. If the measured values exceed these limits, you will receive an alarm notification on your mobile device.

4.5 Scene Association and Automation (Requires Bluetooth Gateway)

When connected to a Bluetooth gateway, the sensor can act as a data source for smart home automation. You can create rules in the app to link the sensor with other smart devices:

  • Automatic Humidifier Control: Automatically turn on or off a smart humidifier when a certain humidity level is reached.
  • Automatic Heater Control: Automatically turn on or off a smart electric heater when the temperature drops below a preset level.
  • Automatic Air Conditioner Control: Automatically turn on or off a smart air conditioner when a certain temperature is reached.

4.6 Third-Party Voice Support (Requires Bluetooth Gateway)

The sensor supports integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant. With a connected Bluetooth gateway, you can inquire about the current temperature and humidity using voice commands.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

5.2 Battery Replacement

When the battery power is low, the app will send a low battery alarm message, reminding you to change the CR2032 battery. Replace the battery promptly to ensure continuous operation and accurate readings.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Device Not Connecting to App

  • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  • Make sure the sensor is within Bluetooth range of your phone or gateway.
  • Check if the battery is properly installed and has sufficient charge.
  • Restart the app and try pairing again.

6.2 Inaccurate Readings

  • Ensure the sensor is not placed near heat sources (e.g., direct sunlight, heaters) or cold sources (e.g., air conditioning vents).
  • Avoid placing the sensor in areas with high airflow or extreme humidity fluctuations.
  • Allow the sensor to stabilize for a few minutes after placement or battery change.

6.3 Data Update Frequency

The sensor reports temperature and humidity data based on the following rules:

  • Device not connected (standalone): Updates immediately if ambient temperature changes by more than 0.5°C or humidity changes by more than 5%. Otherwise, updates every 60 minutes.
  • Bluetooth connected (to phone): Updates immediately if ambient temperature changes by more than 0.5°C or humidity changes by more than 5%. Otherwise, updates every 10 minutes.
  • Gateway connected: Updates immediately if ambient temperature changes by more than 0.5°C or humidity changes by more than 5%. Otherwise, updates every 10 minutes.
