6. Operation

6.1 Adding/Removing Authorized Users

Authorized phone numbers are managed via SMS commands. Please refer to the latest SMS instruction manual provided with your device for specific commands to add, delete, or modify authorized numbers.

Important: Due to product upgrades, always use the latest SMS instructions in the manual to operate the machine.

6.2 Remote Control via Call

Once authorized numbers are configured, simply dial the phone number of the GSM Gate Opener from an authorized mobile phone. The device will reject the call and activate its relay, opening your gate or switching your equipment ON/OFF.

6.3 Remote Switching ON/OFF

For applications like turning pumps or lights ON/OFF, the same free call method applies. The relay will toggle its state upon receiving a call from an authorized number.

6.4 Time-Limited Access (RTU5035)

The RTU5035 model allows for time-limited access control. Users can be granted access only during pre-set time periods. Configuration details are available in the specific RTU5035 SMS command manual.

6.5 SMS Alerts and Sensor Integration (RTU5035)

The RTU5035's two digital inputs can be connected to various sensors (e.g., door sensors, motion sensors). When a sensor is triggered, the device can send an SMS alert message to designated numbers and activate a siren. This feature is useful for security and monitoring.

7. User Tips

  • Power Source: Both RTU5024 and RTU5035 are compatible with 12V DC power sources, including 12V batteries, making them suitable for various installations.
  • SIM Card: Always ensure your SIM card is active, has sufficient credit, and supports 2G GSM networks (900/1800MHz for RTU5035, Quad-band for RTU5024).
  • SMS Commands: Keep the physical instruction manual handy for the most up-to-date SMS commands, especially after product upgrades.
  • Signal Strength: Place the device in an area with good GSM signal strength. The external antenna helps, but a weak signal can affect reliability.
  • Testing: After installation and configuration, thoroughly test all functions (opening/closing, SMS alerts) to ensure proper operation.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Device Not Responding to Calls

  • Check SIM Card: Ensure the SIM card is correctly inserted, active, and has credit.
  • Authorized Number: Verify that the calling number is correctly registered as an authorized user via SMS commands.
  • GSM Signal: Check the signal light on the device. If it's blinking irregularly or off, there might be a poor GSM signal. Relocate the device or check the antenna connection.
  • Power Supply: Confirm the device is receiving adequate power (9-24VDC for RTU5024, 12VDC for RTU5035).

8.2 Relay Not Activating

  • Wiring: Double-check the wiring connections to the gate opener or equipment. Ensure NO/COM/NC terminals are correctly used.
  • Relay Light: Observe the relay light on the device. If it doesn't illuminate when a call is made, the internal relay might not be triggering.
  • Load Compatibility: Ensure the connected equipment's power requirements do not exceed the relay's rating (3A/240VAC for RTU5024, 6A/240VAC for RTU5035).

8.3 SMS Commands Not Working

  • Correct Format: Ensure SMS commands are sent in the exact format specified in the manual.
  • SIM Card Credit: The SIM card must have sufficient credit to send and receive SMS messages.
  • Network Issues: Temporary network congestion or issues can delay or prevent SMS delivery.

9. Maintenance

  • Keep Clean: Periodically clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the device is operated within its specified temperature and humidity ranges to prolong its lifespan.
  • Connection Checks: Regularly inspect all wiring and antenna connections for any signs of wear or looseness.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates that might improve performance or add features.
  • SIM Card Management: Monitor SIM card credit and expiry dates to ensure continuous operation.

10. Warranty and Support

This product is covered by a standard manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. For specific warranty terms, duration, and support inquiries, please refer to the documentation provided at the time of purchase or contact your retailer. Keep your proof of purchase for warranty claims.
