1. Product Overview

The Ulanzi MT-65 is a versatile and lightweight tripod designed for both DSLR cameras and smartphones. 2. Setup

2.1 Unfolding the Tripod

  1. Place the tripod on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Release the leg plate buckles (9) on each leg.
  3. Extend the tripod legs to your desired height. The legs are gradually thickened from top to bottom for stability.
  4. Securely fasten the leg plate buckles (9) to lock the legs in position.

2.2 Mounting Your Device (Camera/Smartphone)

For Cameras:

  1. Ensure the quick release plate knob (2) is loosened.
  2. Attach your camera to the standard Arca quick release plate using the 1/4" screw.
  3. Slide the quick release plate with your camera into the tripod head and tighten the quick release plate knob (2) to secure it.

For Smartphones:

  1. Locate the mobile phone holder.
  2. Attach the mobile phone holder to the 1/4" screw hole (1) on the tripod head.
  3. The bottom of the center column also has a built-in elastic phone clip that can be rotated and removed. This clip stretches from 60-90mm (2.36-3.54 inches) to accommodate various phone sizes.
  4. Insert your smartphone into the phone holder, ensuring it is securely gripped.

2.3 Bluetooth Remote Control Pairing

The Bluetooth remote control is compatible with most iOS and Android systems.

  1. Power On: Long press the camera button on the remote control for 3 seconds to power it on.
  2. Enable Bluetooth: Turn on the Bluetooth function on your mobile phone.
  3. Pairing: Search for "ULANZI MT-65" in your phone's Bluetooth device list, click to connect, and the pairing will be successful.

Note: After successful Bluetooth connection, the remote will automatically enter dormant state if not used for 5 minutes. Press the power button to wake it up without re-pairing.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Adjusting Height and Extension

The tripod features a two-section center column for adjustable height. It can be fully extended up to 1.76m (69.29 inches).

  1. To extend the center column, loosen the center column locking knob (5 or 7).
  2. Pull the center column upwards to the desired height.
  3. Tighten the center column locking knob to secure it.

3.2 Pan/Tilt Head Operation

The integrated ball head allows for smooth and stable damping for upward, downward, and 360-degree rotation.

  • Use the pan/tilt adjustment knob (3) to control the tilt angle.
  • The pan/tilt control handle (4) allows for precise camera movement.
  • A bubble level is integrated into the head to ensure your setup is perfectly horizontal.
  • For vertical and horizontal mode switching, use the separate locking knob to rotate the camera mount 90 degrees.

3.3 Multiple Shooting Modes

The Ulanzi MT-65 supports various shooting configurations:

  • Standard Mode: For general photography and videography.
  • Overhead Video Shooting Mode: Allows for top-down shots.
  • Inverted Center Axis Mode: For low-angle shots or macro photography.

3.4 Using the Bluetooth Remote Control

Once paired, the remote control allows you to trigger your device's camera shutter from up to 30 meters (98.4 ft) away. This is ideal for selfies, group photos, or stable video recording without touching your device.

3.5 Enhancing Stability

For added stability, especially in windy conditions or with heavier equipment, you can hang heavy objects (e.g., a camera bag) from the hook (10) located at the bottom of the center column.

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the tripod with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dust and dirt. For stubborn grime, use a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: When not in use, fold the tripod to its compact size (575mm) and store it in the provided shoulder bag. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Bluetooth Remote Charging: The remote control has a 3.7V/60mAh battery. When the battery is low, the red light will flash. During charging, the red light will be continuously on. Once fully charged, the red light will turn off.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically check all knobs, buckles, and screws to ensure they are tight and functioning correctly.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Bluetooth Remote Not Connecting:
    • Ensure the remote is powered on (long press camera button for 3s).
    • Check if your phone's Bluetooth is enabled.
    • Verify that you are searching for "ULANZI MT-65" and not another device.
    • If the remote was dormant, press the power button to wake it up.

  • Tripod Instability:
