  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the keycaps and keyboard surface.
  • For deeper cleaning between keys, use compressed air to remove dust and debris.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasives, or solvents that could damage the keyboard's finish.

7.2 Replacing Keycaps and Switches (Hot-swappable)

The AK82 features full-key hot-swappable sockets, allowing you to easily change keycaps and mechanical switches without soldering.

Figure 7: Hot-swappable Switches

  1. Removing Keycaps: Use a keycap puller to gently pull up on the desired keycap until it detaches from the switch.
  2. Removing Switches: Use a switch puller to grasp the top and bottom clips of the switch. Gently rock and pull the switch upwards until it comes free from the PCB.
  3. Installing Switches: Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB. Press down firmly until the switch clicks into place. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
  4. Installing Keycaps: Place the new keycap over the switch stem and press down firmly until it is securely attached.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not responding:
    • Ensure the keyboard is charged or connected via cable.
    • Check the system switch (Win/Mac) and connectivity mode switch (BT/USB 2.4G) on the bottom of the keyboard are set correctly.
    • For 2.4G wireless, ensure the USB receiver is securely plugged in.
    • For Bluetooth, ensure the keyboard is paired and within range. Try re-pairing if necessary.
    • Try connecting via a different mode (e.g., wired) to isolate the issue.
  • RGB lights not working or incorrect:
    • Ensure the keyboard is powered on.
    • Cycle through lighting effects using the dedicated keys.
    • Adjust brightness settings.
  • Keys not registering or double-typing:
    • This could indicate a faulty switch. Since the keyboard is hot-swappable, try replacing the problematic switch.
    • Ensure keycaps are properly seated.
  • Connectivity issues (lag, disconnections):
    • For wireless modes, ensure there are no strong interference sources nearby (e.g., other wireless devices, large metal objects).
    • Ensure the keyboard is close to the receiver/device.
    • For 2.4G, try plugging the receiver into a different USB port.
    • For Bluetooth, ensure your device's Bluetooth drivers are up to date.

9. User Tips

  • Knob Customization: The multi-function knob is designed to be removable for replacement or customization. Gently pull it upwards to detach.
  • System Switching for Wired Keyboards: If you have a wired-only version of this keyboard, system switching between Windows and Mac is typically done via a shortcut key combination, as there is no physical switch on the bottom. Refer to specific product documentation if your model is wired-only.
